As far as writing and editing for comic books, you need to research them online and through books instead of asking the company. The company is way too busy to let you know (That'd be like me asking Scholastic how to publish my novel).

No offense, but you'll be pressed for luck to find someone who will hire you for an editing job. Not because you're unqualified or something, but because there are a lot of people interested in getting those jobs, and unless you get your foot in the door with an internship or you know someone who works there, it's very hard to get a job with a publishing company, magazine agency, or other printing place ( ... )

2006 editions are actually now out, but if you see a discounted 2005 get it since they have different listings (one of the agencies I queried didn't even get listed in the 2006 one). www.agentquery.com is also really great, but I don't know if you use agents for comic books.

It's ugly. No, really. They're brown and orange (the agents one-- I think the main one is brown and pink).

if you want to write for magazines, or work for them at all, go for an internship. just write a lot so you'll have something to show them, write things you can send into different publications in the area (editorials, etc...) to show things you've had published. but, really, getting contacts in the field is the best thing to do. call around or look online for magazine internships in ATL...there are quite a few, lots of mags in ATL :) good luck finding something you really want to do!

You can come and work for meee! I can pay you in easy mac and hot cocoa, and the job includes a great benefits package with perks such as your own personal working space under my bed, and access to the astounding amount of "F" grades that I make. You have to admit, it sounds tempting, right? ;)

What defines "professional?" Nothing's really going to just show up one day.

If you're not going to go the education/internship route, I suggest finding a good temp agency, and looking for something permanent through that.

You're perfectly capable of figuring this out, Parker. You also have a lot of people who are interested in giving you advice - it will be okay.
