how do people come up with quick responses in class lectures?

read the material beforehand and jot down clever things to contribute. it doesn’t matter if whatever you add to the discussion isn't relevant to what the person before you said, if it could be relevant awesome, but screw that i just need the participation points. and i had to learn not to think so much- your first response to whatever was thrown at you is probably right, it really sucks when you think about something for an extended period of time and in the end decide not to contribute but thn the guy next to you says it and he's considered a genius. so raise your hand first and thn organize your thoughts.
