Thanks for posting the video. I had heard of the Pacific Vortex a few years ago. It is the world's largest landfill, about the size of Alaska, and just north of Hawaii. Basically, the Pacific Rim is like a giant toilet bowl that churns but never flushes, so everything gets collected in one spot. It's growing bigger fast.

Yeah, some of the photos coming out of there are truly horrifying. The thing that boggles my mind the most is how much bottled water people go through.

Growing up in a place where the water from a tap would occasionally come out yellow or brown, and we would have to boil the crap out of it to be able to drink it, it should be a blessing that we have so much clean water to be able to drink straight from a tap and not worry about that sort of thing. Instead we manufacture how many plastic bottles a minute and dump that into our oceans? It's a scary thought.

Thanks so much for the post!
What an amazing combination of writing, photography, narrating and direction. I think it's rare to find a home run like this one. I'm definitely reposting this.
