(OOC: Takes place on the night of the earthquake, July 12th.)
Klavier: *Klavier heads down the emergency exit of his apartment, Daryan in tow. The earthquake stopped a little while ago, leaving a few light aftershocks in its wake -- also, knocking the power out. Klavier’s still relatively shaken from his very first earthquake as he heads down the stairs, a small group of other residents following after the two men -- clearly interested in surveying the damage outside. Klavier looks over his shoulder to Daryan, motioning for him to move in closer.*
Klavier: *Keeping his voice low, Klavier walks a bit faster, distancing himself and Daryan from the crowd* Alright, that call I got a minute ago -- it was from the station. We have a... big problem on our hands, D.
Daryan: *Daryan moves in to listen to Klavier.* What's the problem, man?
Klavier: *Klavier glances over his shoulder again, making sure nobody is close enough to hear him. The last thing he wants is mass panic in this stairwell* We do not have a definite number on how many yet but... There has been a bit of an escape...
Daryan: *Daryan's eyes widen* An escape? Who all got out?
Klavier: *Klavier voice is nothing more than a hushed whisper now* Not sure who right now, but they from Bloodspill...
Daryan: *The mention of the prison where all of the death row inmates makes Daryan grit his teeth and even curses the name with contempt* Bloodspill...But that's bad, man. What are we going to do?
Klavier: *Klavier gestures for Daryan to give him a second as he pushes open the door to outside. It's a little stiff but he gets it open, stepping outside and holding it open for the rest of the crowd*
Klavier: *The other residents leave, heading around to the front of the building leaving Klavier and Daryan alone.* Well, I do not know all the details yet, so we are heading down to the station -- from the sound of things, we may have a few death-row inmates running about... You can fire a gun, ja?
Daryan: Yeah, I can fire a gun, man. Been practicing for a month or so, Klav.
Klavier: *Klavier nods* Alright, good. We can see about getting you armed then. I am sure I can swing something... *Klavier closes the door and motions for Daryan to follow him to the parking lot*
Daryan: *Daryan follows Klavier out into the parking lot* Seriously, man? Is that even cool to just grab a gun like that?
Klavier: *Klavier shakes his head and grins over to his friend* Probably not but if I claim you have basic arms safety training and pair you off with a senior detective nobody will question it.
Klavier: We have some pretty dangerous, pissed off people running around. A civilian running around with a police firearm is probably the least of their concerns right now, ja?
Daryan: *Now Daryan is excited despite the grim situation* Really?! A senior detective and everything?! *Daryan hopes it's someone like his uncle or one of the best detectives in the department so he can learn a lot from them*
Klavier: *Klavier gets to his motorcycle -- quite amazed that it's still standing. The fact its tightly wedged between two cars is probably the key reason for this.* Hey, help me pull her out, ja? And... try not to scratch her too much.
Daryan: *Daryan grabs the back part of the motorcycle and starts pulling, though after a second, the metal start screeching* Jeez man, this thing is stuck in there good.
Klavier: *Klavier moves around and starts pushing from the front, cringing as he hears his baby screeching again* Just keep trying -- she needs a new paint job anyways...
Daryan: *Daryan keeps tugging and the hog manages to move a bit* All right, I think it's coming loose.
Klavier: *Klavier gives a hard push while Daryan pulls, wedging most of the bike out* there. Just another pull should do it... *he moves back around to Daryan's side* Let us just hope she still starts, ja? *he gives a bit of a nervous chuckle*
Daryan: *Daryan gives one hard pull and the bike manages to come out* There. Let's start it up and get going, man
Klavier: *Klavier hops on the bike and starts it up. The bike sputters a moment but then starts to purr -- much to Klavier's relief.* Alright, hop on. Good thing the station is pretty close.
Daryan: *Daryan quickly hops on and grabs to the back of the bike* Hit it, Klav! Those inmates aren't going to catch themselves!
Klavier: *Klavier guns it out of the parking lot once Daryan's on. Keeping a steady eye on the road (and trying to convince himself the ground is not suddenly going to split open and cause the two to fall to their doom), they arrive down at the precinct. Parking outside the station, Klavier gets off his bike and jumps as his cell vibrates in his pocket* Nicht das schon wieder...
Klavier: *Klavier pulls his phone out and answers, looking warily to Daryan* Gavin here. ... Ja, I am just outside... Okay, Tschüss.*he hangs up and jams the phone back into his pocket*
Daryan: *Daryan just looks at Klavier after he jumped from the cell phone ringing* Dude, what the hell was that all about?
Klavier: Nothing. Quiet. Ah, we are needed inside -- they have an ID on a few escaped cons.
Daryan: *Daryan just shrugs, the man laughs at him for getting beat up by nerds yet jumps when his cell phone rings* Whatever, man. Let's go.
Klavier: *Klavier mumbles under his breath, heading towards the door* I thought it was an aftershock, okay?
Daryan: I'm sure that made a lot of sense in your head, man. *Daryan pats Klavier on the back*
Klavier: Do not tell anyone, okay? You can tease me later and I will remind you that you got beaten up by... uh... *Klavier attempts to pick a random Star Wars character off the top of his head* ...Dong Dong Durgan.
Daryan: *Daryan just crosses his arm* You just made that up, didn't you? But I get the point.
Klavier: Ja, because I am not a guy who gets beaten up by nerds. *Klavier grins and opens the door; the station is pretty hectic already, reports coming in regarding not just the Bloodspill prisoners but as well as reports of damages, injuries, looting and other fun associated with mass panic after an earthquake*
Klavier: Wait here, D. Let me find the chief, see if we can get you teamed up with someone. *Klavier disappears into the crowd, heading through a door in the back*
Daryan: *Daryan was about to follow him or look over some of the reports coming in, but a patrol officer told him to take a seat somewhere and stay out of their way. He does what he's told, sitting down on a bench.*
Klavier: *Klavier returns after a few minutes, squeezing through the crowd. He hands Daryan a belt with a police radio* Here, put this on. They are getting you some body armor -- the gun is a no-go right now, but we can see if I can pull a few strings and at least get you a taser. We are looking for someone to dispatch you with.
Daryan: Aw man...*Daryan's disappointed that he didn't get a gun, but he figures he can improvise with a bat or something. He puts the belt on and checks if the radio works.*
Gumshoe: *Gumshoe bursts through the large double-doors that lead to the interior of the station, and there is a palpable cloud of seriousness and determination around the normally-jovial detective* The Chief said you were looking for someone, Prosecutor Gavin, sir? *He frowns--which deepens as he sees Daryan* What are you doin' here, kid?
Daryan: *Daryan's happiness at helping to clean up the streets instantly died upon seeing Gumshoe and then he looks to Klavier while point at Gumshoe* HIM?! I'm being paired with HIM?!
Gumshoe: Paired with...?! *Gumshoe turns to Klavier, sighing* Mr. Gavin, I don't have time to baby sit some kid. There's actual criminals around, and there's a pretty high chance that people could end up hurt.
Klavier: *A junior officer runs over to the group and hands Klavier a bulletproof vest, apologizing for being late before running off again. Klavier hands it over to Daryan and looks to Gumshoe* Detective, Herr Crescend is a deputy in this time of crisis. I expect you to treat him as a fellow officer. *he flashes a look to Daryan* And I expect you to treat the good detective as your superior, ja?
Daryan: *Daryan grumbles as he puts on the vest* ...Fine.
Gumshoe: *Gumshoe stares at Klavier for a second before nodding, his voice low and clearly unhappy with the situation* All right, Mr. Gavin. If that's how you want it, sir. *looking at Daryan out of the corner of his eye, he indicates for the youth to follow him* Car's this way.
Daryan: See ya later, Klav. *Then Daryan moves in closer to whisper to Klavier* You might want to change your phone to ring instead of vibrate next time. *And with that, he heads off to follow Gumshoe.*
Klavier: *Klavier scowls at the back of Daryan's head as he leaves with the detective. Once out of sight, he pulls his phone out of his pocket and does just what Daryan suggested, keeping his ringer on low.*
Gumshoe: *There's still an aura of no-nonsense and seriousness--even anger--around the detective as he leads Daryan back into the police station and into the large garage where the squad cars are kept--over half of them gone already--unlocking the doors of his own vehicle and sliding in*
Daryan: *Daryan doesn't say a word as he gets into the passenger seat. Though once he strapped himself in, he checks the glove compartment in the hopes of finding a gun. However, he only found a taser which is better than nothing and takes it*
Gumshoe: *Gumshoe turns the radio on--it squawks with dispatches--and backs out of the garage, quickly shifting into gear*
Daryan: *Daryan looks over the taser and figure out how it works, which is pretty simple before deciding to break the silence.* So how is this going to go down, McScruff? Cruise around for awhile and take down anyone we see?
Gumshoe: *Gumshoe glances at Daryan as he drives* You think it's that simple, pal? Ever since Bloodspill abolished havin' uniforms... well, funny how much criminals look like regular people when they're wearin' regular clothes. We wait for a nearby dispatch, then we go. *he pauses* And kid, you leave the 'taking down' to me.
Daryan: Listen, man. I didn't ask to be partnered with you but I'll be damned if I am going to sit here when there are criminals running around while you try to make yourself useful for the first time in your life!
Gumshoe: *It's a good thing that there's almost no traffic due to the earthquake, as Gumshoe brings the squad car to a screeching halt, pulling to the side of the street and glaring over at Daryan--he's furious for whatever reason* You listen to me, kid. This isn't playing cops n' robbers, okay? This is serious stuff here.
Gumshoe: These are the worst of the worst when it comes to criminals, and they're already armed. I don't care what you think you know about being a detective, but we don't do our job, people can and will get hurt or worse. So you shut up and you do what I tell you, or you walk back to the precinct and make yourself useful answering calls. Got it?
Daryan: *Daryan reels back a little from Gumshoe who seemed to grow a pair out of nowhere* ....Fine.
Gumshoe: ...all right. ...good. Now listen to the radio, and if there's something in our area, we'll get on it.
Daryan: *Daryan listens to the radio for a while before talking to Gumshoe* Got a looting in progress on Vine Street, man.
Gumshoe: Vine Street, eh? ...might wanna hold on if you've never done this before, pal. *Gumshoe flicks a switch and the siren starts to wail as he floors the gas pedal, the squad car peeling out down the nearly-empty streets at top speed*
