So yah, anyone who has studied body mapping would have a heart attack watching Vivica Genaux sing, but her sound is AMAZING.

-jaw jetting foward
-upper lip riding up
-moving the body up on higher notes
-"arm structures"(shoulders) moving up and down

No I haven't. I actually haven't listened to much of her cause my voice teacher is like NOOOO!!! DIE BARTOLI! because of all her technical issues haha. She's like all about body mapping....she's getting her lisence soon too lol.

I dont know about this Cecilia person, or anything about singing or even body mapping.

BUT, I do understand that the singer's concept of vibrato is that it is uncontrollable and just kinda magically develops as the singer does, which is different from how wind player vibrato develops. Wind players think vibrato is controllable.

Now, if this Cecilla person was a flute player, I would diagnose her with "Nanny goat" vibrato- vibrato caused by high throat tension.

So she may be able to relieve body tension, but it would change her sound.

Although, if one has too much tension, they are shortening their performing life.

I get to take Alexander technique next year- hopefully it will help.
