i'm going to be a sister-in-law

Well, I was going to talk mostly about the comicon today, but I just got the text message from my brother and the email from my mother saying that Kerry's engaged now. Don't know that they have a date in mind yet, but that's what, 3 weddings in the next year or less that I know of... wait, 4 because there's a friend of ours up here getting married in June.

So yeah.

Comicon. Well, you saw the picture of us with Jewel Staite. I had a good time. What's funny is if you had told me when I was in second grade that 18 or so years from then I'd have the chance to be in the same room with Wil Wheaton and listen to him talk for, what, 90 minutes or so, I'd have been all like "no way, that's so awesome!" And turns out, that's pretty much my reaction to being able to go to his panel. He's a pretty cool guy, and he loves doing conventions and such, you can tell he's having a good time. Now I want to read his blog, it's apparently really good. I read Neil Gaiman's blog and love it. But that's neither here nor there.

Also, what was fun was going around and getting things signed, some people I actually knew from comics I've actually read. Tim Sale that does the art for Heroes was there and we got our print version of the oniline comics signed, lots of people from the Buffy season 8 comics were there (I'm behind on the most recent issues, but I've read the first few arcs), David Mack does great art but I haven't read any of his stuff yet (he's the one Melissa got her picture with). Oh, I got a print of River from Firefly/Serenity done by Jason Palmer. Here's the pic of it from his site, since I haven't taken a pic of mine yet:

It's one of 300 (mine's number 127 or something like that), and he signed it, too.  I really like all his art that he's done for a lot of shows and things, they're realistic, but also distinctly the characters and less the actors who do the characters, if that makes any sense.

Anyway, Paul still has his tale to tell about the con, when he finally finishes his post (I hear he's started it, at least).  I'm planning on doing some gardening today, as the yard needs some attention.  *still trying to get used to the thought of having in-laws*
