I am sick and tired of people trying to convince me that global warming isn't happening...or worse, that it doesn't matter. I can't even fathom how someone can truly believe that the earth isn't warming with all of the proof that it is. The glaciers are melting at a record breaking speed, the Antarctic ice shelf is quickly deteriorating, and ( Read more... )

you're right amanda, this is a problem, but i guarantee that even if everyone and their mother knows it's true, it wont be fixed. because we then need to look at how it's fixed, and the way we fix global warming is by spending money on ways to fix global warming, and if we spend money to fix global warming then there is less money for all of those poor politicians and homeless big business executives that live off of the waste we produce. it all goes back to money, and people are simply too self centered to realize the impact it will have on the future generations.

I disagree. I think if everyone and their mother knew, they would take some action (especially those mothers with their motherly instincts) to get something, ANYTHING, done. Because even though those politicians are drowning in their own greed, they can't ignore an entire country of people telling them to do the opposite of what they're doing.

I think education is the key. Everyone needs to know what's going on and that there are ways to fix it. But most importantly, people need to realize that it is true. It is happening. It will effect our lives.

it's funny, we had this discussion in TOK today. but already the facts are undeniable. and although there are new advertisements flaunting their "environmentally friendly" products and such there is no concrete movement against the destruction of our planet. it's because people like politicians and big business CEOs dont want to damage their pockets until something else damages it first.

I could choose to comment on the fact that literally everything comes back to TOK, but I won't. ;)

I know the facts are undeniable, but there is an overwhelming number of people who seriously believe that there is nothing wrong with our planet. It's these people, who are just a little pig-headed once they wrap their minds around something, that would force action. If we could convince that mass of people that this is something to worry about, they would force some sort of action, rather than reinforcing our current course of inaction.

Maybe it's a pipe dream that'll never be realized, but I'd like to see the world become "stable" (and I'm using this term incredibly lightly) again. This global warming thing needs to be identified and dealt with.

Address in Florida? Package from Michigan? Array of candies, nuts, jams and such? You are on snacksters, right? I'll send you the email from snacksters, but I'm certain you were my partner.
