ITA with everything you said.

Some YA are very complex and like the later books in the hp series they deal with some very serious issues. There are plenty of ya novels I enjoy.

I think anything that gets people to read is a good thing. Whether it be a ya novel or some classic lit.

Thank you! I'm glad I'm not alone in this thought.

Books are just like TV and movies and other forms of media - yes there are suggested age ranges, but anyone can get someone out of any media. I've watched things as an 'adult' that I saw as a kid and I got something completely new and fresh about it. The lines aren't really sharp and I think that's okay.

I think many books can't be shoved neatly into one box and that's ok. Honestly, I try to read 'adult' books, but lately I just can't do it. Save for The Walking Dead, I just need something easier and lighter to read because I deal with so much serious shit in my head...and at work. EVERY DAY.

Anyway, that person is a douche. Looks like most people agree. And I agree with you - obvs.

YES. Some adult books are just too dry or too heavy. Sometimes I enjoy heavy, deep reading, but not all the time.

Yes, there were a ton of commenters though that said they agreed with that man. It blew my mind.
