It appears that if I view my own entries without signing in, there are ads in my journal.

They probably did it because they noticed a high proportion of bloggers were of Polish origin, the cockgobblers.

High proportion? You're the only Polish-origin blogger I follow, thus it must be a tiny number. (single anecdotes being extendable to massive sets of data, of course)

It looks like you get ads if you aren't logged in and visit a non-paid account. That seems reasonable enough to me, especially since if you have a 'basic' account and are logged in, your journal (and any other basic account's journal) will be ad-free.

On the other hand, I bought a permanent account a few years back, so I never see ads anywhere on LJ if I'm logged in.
