So, starting sometime Friday or Saturday (11/17 , 11/18) I'll be coming home for a week break. Who all is going to be around, and when can we meet. I didn't see anyone over summer break, this needs to happen.
Still, apart from being away from my family, I would rather spend my break in Japan. You do of course realize that we will be able to hold simple conversations with eachother in japanese when you get back? It will piss people off and be very fun. How is your nihongo anyway? you speak it well?
your right about pissing people off, i keep using my limited vocab in chats with people back home accidentally. I prob should type you a response in Japanese but i don't feel like switching to the jap computer and using their dumb keyboard. Anyway i have 8 hours a week on Japanese which is basically private lessons there are only 3 of us. We seemingly spend most of the time on sentence structure and grammar. We have learned 60 or so kanji which is helpful but i cant remember how to say most of them, just write them, they change meaning so damn much. This week we studied tara form (because) and asking and responding in different tenses, a never ending task. I know hirigana well, my spelling needs some work but i know the symbols, if you decide to come to japan ever make sure you have a good grasp on katakana because that is what dominates everyday life here. You will have a much easier time reading everything if you know kata because hiragana is just not used nearly as much for some reason. Anyway i only know a limited amount
( ... )
yea, I know katakana pretty well. What helps is putting just every-day english words in katakana. There was a time when I put some of my notes in katakana. I'm pretty good with it. Good to hear you're having a great time. Later
