Snail on the loose

I found it strange this evening when going through LJ posts that Jason forgot to mention one of the stranger things that happened this morning while we were both puttering about. From what I could tell, they had used their "foot" to seal off their shell, conserving the moisture inside until I dropped her back into the tank.

This type of snail (Zebra Nerite) apparently has been known to lay eggs outside of the water from time to time, and I've found her in the old tank above the water line from time to time. But not this far out of the water :P

It was a bit of a scare. The Nerites are awesome algae cleaners ;)
