This is fucking hilarious watching all these employers having meltdowns about how they can't find workers. Even the last bakery I quit is having trouble. Darlene retired recently, Marnie last I heard went to Kwik Trip, and Ashley the cake decorator must have left too because they were looking for one. This is so fucking stupid. How can I make it more clear and make people understand that I don't have cakes and items available for immediate pickup, without sounding like an asshole?? On all of my pages I put 5-7 days' notice required for all orders, advance orders only, NO LAST MINUTE ORDERS ACCEPTED. Yet I STILL get people calling looking for ( Read more... ) -

odd encounter last night. We went to look for the screech owl by the U of M again. We didn't see it, but when we got back by the car the park pig was there, I think running our plates, ostensibly to check to make sure we had paid for parking (duh). We had to say goodbye to my cat Ozzy the other day. 17 years is a pretty good long life. Of course I was hoping he would make it to at least 20, but things don't often go the way we want. I'm still very sad, but it helps me to write everything down, so here goes. (TW animal death)

update
I didn't hear anything all day yesterday from the wedding cake people after sending a new contract. The bride and groom wanted to go a size smaller and said they would pay for it, so I reworked the contract and sent it to them. Then I asked for some other opinions because the whole thing was setting off alarm bells. They all said to not do it. ( Read more... ) -

I almost had my first wedding cake order. It was all but a done deal, the gal had only to sign the contract and pay the deposit. She was in charge of ordering and paying for the cake for her friend's wedding. I gave them samples and did a consultation. Well shit
My dad passed away Saturday morning. Just died in his sleep apparently. He had congestive heart failure since he got so sick last year, so it was sudden but not entirely unexpected. I hadn't seen him in over a year; my mom was the only one allowed to visit him all through Covid of course. At least the last time I did see him he was in a good mood. ( Read more... ) -

Things are finally starting to look up a little. I got my Covid vaccine, so that's all done and went well. My arm was sore for a few days but that's pretty much the worst side effect I had.
Eric has a job offer with 3M, through a staffing agency, starting May 10th, starting at $25.33 an hour, full time. It's 3rd shift though, while not ideal is ( Read more... ) -
People suck.
I can't deal with people any more. I'm not taking any more orders for a while. Nobody bothers to read anything. People suck at communication. I'm sick and tired of getting ghosted and left hanging all the time. I think it's mostly the area where we live; people here just seem to be more rude, passive-aggressive, cheap assholes.
