This song, the melody, the lyrics, touch my soul in so many ways. Maybe it has to do with the fact that it's connected to a special moment in my life, but I think it's really touching anyway.
Coffee and Cigarettes - Michelle Featherstone
I gave up coffee and cigarettes - I hate to say it hasn't helped me yet
I thought my problems would just dissipate and all my pain would be in yesterday
But it's true, I'm still blue; but I finally know what to do:
I must quit, I must quit... you.
I have been identifying completely with this song for a long time (except I don't smoke :P), it's honest and heartbreaking and her voice with the piano do a perfect job. <3
Aftertaste - Ben Lee
Destiny was never up to me and it's not my fault - your love's like salt
The aftertaste is gonna break my heart
Feels like it's over before it starts.
I've become obsessed with this song, it's quite slow and soft, but has a beat in it that gets me. (plus the lyrics are great!)
Unforgiven - Apocalyptica
I am not a big fan of Metallica, but I like a lot of their songs, and "Unforgiven" is one of them (though "Unforgiven II" is better imo). Anyway, this instrumental cover by Apocalyptica made me see it in a whole new light. It's pure genius - and I get the chills whenever I listen to it.
Falling Sun - Anouk
I know I still love you, and I know you still care
So keep on trying when you're sure you still love me
I don't know much, but I know how to love you
Doesn't that mean anything?
Anouk's voice is so special in general, and this song has so much feeling in it. Plus I relate so much. :P
Someday - Flypside
Someday we gonna rise up on that wind you know
Someday we gonna dance with those lions
Someday we gonna break free from these chains and keep on flying
Ok, this is not the kind of music I like at all, but this song... It gets me. I've been listening to it over the last weeks of summer again and again, and... I don't know, just give it a listen! ;)
Far More - the Honorary Sound
Well, you can't dictate the way I'm gonna feel
No matter what I'm forced to see, I'll be the one free of jealousy
...
I love you and I miss you; what else is there to say?
Another proof of the huge anticipation One Tree Hill has in my music taste. The Honorary Title is really good in general, and this song is... special.
