Character info
Series/Fandom: Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon (live-action)
Character's Name: Zoisite
Character's Sex: male
Character's Age: very early twenties. if exact age is needed, 22
Canon point: just before he passes out from Beryl's torture in act 32
Abilities: Zoisite represents the Air element; as such, wind often accompanies his spells, which are usually carried out through the power embedded in his piano music - which also travels on the air. Similarly, he is capable of manipulating other sound, such as causing Mamoru to hear his voice from afar to guide Mamoru to him.
He is capable of manipulating his music to achieve a variety of effects from restoring memories of long ago, to taking away memories from his victim, to conjuring up youma to do his bidding, to endowing that youma's own voice with the power to destroy his target, to hijacking radio frequencies and using that to cause people to become drowsy and disoriented. When he was unaware of her specific identity, targeting the 'princess' caused visiting dignitaries and dreamy young girls to pass out and require medical attention, while dolls and storybooks all over burst into flame. He also once caused a car crash that put his victim in the hospital for awhile, by controlling the car radio to affect her and the driver of the other car.
His music can also send out his soul, or someone else's, to a desired location. As with his music, he is able to focus on vague targets. He once sent Jadeite's spirit to Sailor Moon for a chance to battle her, without knowing where she would in fact be. This 'soul flight' technique does leave him weaker, as it is only a manifestation of himself.
This also means he is quite skilled at playing the piano, of course. He uses it not only as a channel for his powers, but as a means of relating to the world around him when he is so often aloof from others, and a way of focusing his own thoughts; when he is very disturbed about something, he has been known to find himself unable to play. The other shitennou associate his music with him so strongly that once Zoisite dies, Jadeite's gesture of remembrance is to go to Zoisite's room and close the piano lid.
As part of his control of memories, he seems to have a very strong psychic connection to significant figures from his past. His true memories are released and restored to him when he simply touches Mamoru during a fight between them. When he casually moves from a failed plan to a new plan within the Dark Kingdom, he notes that he felt the presence of Sailor V. This may simply be some very minor psychic ability in general, as he also senses Mio's presence just before her attack in the Special Act. He also certainly shares in the bond that the shitennou have together, a strong enough mental bond that each of the others notably reacted to Zoisite's death despite not being there to know of it.
He is strongly telekinetic. He has been known to manipulate the very bodies of his enemies to crash into other. This should be understood as separate from the hypnosis or brainwashing he once used in the Dark Kingdom to set all the senshi against Sailor Moon at once, something he would be unlikely to use in SK - unless it was for the sake of keeping Mamoru or Endymion safe.
As a shitennou, Zoisite is a warrior. He often defaults to his magical powers even in battle, but he is quite capable of wielding his curved dagger to deadly effect. Like his fellows, he is capable of blasting his opponents with energy channeled through the weapon, or with energy simply gathered between his hands.
Within the Dark Kingdom, Zoisite is capable of teleporting between that dimension and the 'human world' or normal surface world. Like the others, he can bring someone with him when he does. He also makes use of short-distance teleportation to catch his enemies off-guard as they will be unable to predict his movements. (In SK, his teleportation would be limited to the list of planets.)
Strengths: The strongest power Zoisite possesses is over memories. It's no small feat to be able to manipulate those at will, and he has been known to use it to powerful effect: He was willing to alter Usagi's memories to keep her away from Mamoru if it meant keeping Mamoru, and the planet, safe. It also has potential to break through Beryl's brainwashing (and thus potentially other mental manipulation) by showing the truth of the past they were made to forget.
His telekinesis is also notable as a power the other shitennou do not seem to share, and strong enough to override a victim's intentions to move their bodies against their will, even several youma at once at one point when he is fighting against youma along with the others.
Zoisite's music, in a purely mundane sense, is also the pinnacle of performance. His piano playing is flawless technically, and very beautiful.
Weaknesses: Zoisite is not strong, physically. In altercations with his fellow shitennou, he usually gets the worse end of it: He's been shoved into his piano (it's one way to stop him from playing that blasted song and stirring things up yet again) and into walls, and he's passed out from Beryl's torture when he's defied her. His mental determination is great, but his body does not always stand up to it.
His power over memories is, of course, not perfect. It can be resisted at least to an extent, and possibly entirely if someone is mentally strong enough. Even when Nephrite was finally willing to let him try, Zoisite was unable to restore Nephrite's memories of the past life, possibly due to Nephrite's earlier additional memory-wipe by Beryl.
His soul flight form is especially weak, as is it only a representation of his presence.

Appearance: [
picture] Notably, he strongly resembles the Kunzite of anime or manga worlds.
Personality:
First of all, Zoisite does not relate to others easily. Under the Dark Kingdom, he is wholly aloof from everyone around him, even Beryl despite working on her behalf. It's almost as if he feels he has nothing better to do, and may as well. He does not speak with her much, he is never seen to fawn over her or try to get her approval (a fact which worries her about her control over him), and he seems content to remain in his room playing his piano and spinning his spells and plots. He is fairly amoral in the early stages; he seems not to be choosing between good or evil or right or wrong, but simply to be doing whatever passes the time at hand.
During this time, Zoisite is willing to encourage Jadeite into a scheme he knows will rebound on the younger boy, and laughs when Jadeite does indeed collapse and Beryl is forced to return to him to the form of his stone to save his life by letting him recoup his energies. He treats the typical bluster and snide comments typical of the Dark Kingdom rivalries with a total lack of concern, failing to rise to the bait and telling them to do better, then; though he doubts they'll be able to. His own failures are shrugged off just as easily as he moves to a new plan instead. He is incredibly detached.
It's Mamoru that gives him back his ability to make connections. Once his true memories are restored, putting Mamoru (or rather, Endymion) back in his place as Zoisite's lord and reason for existing, Zoisite becomes a man capable of being concerned for those around him. He protects and serves Mamoru at great cost to himself, and with his very life, his devotion even going so far as to sacrifice that life to save Usagi, a girl he really still cares nothing for himself, solely because Mamoru would want her to live.
He also becomes concerned with the plight of his fellow shitennou, encouraging and comforting them when they need it and exhorting them to better themselves by throwing off Beryl's curses and brainwashing. With these close companions, Zoisite can be very wise, a figure of advice and soft words, and a listening ear. He gently reminds Nephrite that he is worthwhile and valuable when Nephrite feels shamed by Beryl's rejection, and he helps Mamoru sort through his feelings as he comes to terms with his past identity (albeit while coming on too strongly at first). Though he and Kunzite remain on opposite sides with one defending Mamoru and one out for vengeance upon him, Zoisite remains a sounding board for Kunzite as well, and the two closely discuss happenings in the Dark Kingdom together. He begins to make plans to avert the coming destruction he foresees for the planet if the past-life fate continues to play out.
Even now, however, Zoisite does not reach out to others outside these few easily, and he is far more likely to contact a potential ally to conclude a bargain, than to be sociable. There's a small chance he might think of sharing a paopu fruit with someone some day, but he'd probably see the tie it creates as a tie from the past life.
He is also just as ruthless now as he was in the Dark Kingdom, when he believes he needs to be, i.e. to protect his lord and companions. He is violent towards Jadeite even while caring for him, when Jadeite carries out Beryl's plans that will harm Mamoru. He puts himself between Kunzite and Mamoru to protect the latter despite his close bond to the former.
He is dogged, determined, and will not give up his beliefs no matter what may be done to him. He will fight for the world and existence he wants for himself and his companions, and refuse to accept anything else. He never stops trying to awaken the others' memories or trying to persuade them to be loyal to Endymion again. He does not allow Mamoru to run away, but follows him from Tokyo to England and back always insisting he must become the prince again and take up his responsibilities from the past. Reviving the shitennou does not earn Beryl his loyalty or gratitude, simply because she has revived them into a life that enslaves them and not one where they are free to be themselves and the way he remembers them. Surrounded by resistance, he has had to become this determined, as if he carries the weight of the others on his shoulders.
Zoisite is capable of dirty dealing, make no mistake. He was willing to provide the means to erase Usagi's memories of Mamoru in exchange for Venus protecting Mamoru from Beryl. He was willing to kill Usagi himself in exchange for Beryl not taking Mamoru's life in her attempts to force Mamoru to love her instead. His morality is grey at best, and wholly driven by what's best for Mamoru and the shitennou and the planet, in that order. However, ultimately, Mamoru rules him once more: Zoisite later considers his actions against Usagi to be wrong not because of the actions themselves but because it was against what Mamoru would have wished him to do and thus a betrayal against Mamoru; Usagi does not figure into the equation in his mind.
He is tidy, organized, and neat. Ice cream is not high on the menu; it'd drip all over his white uniform. The exception to this is the pile of manuscript paper that might start to cover the floor during one of his flurries of musical composition; but even this is so that he can then stir the music into life with his power.
He is the wind: often a gentle, soft breeze but a biting gale force when angered. This is the difference between quietly reflecting on the events unfolding around him while idly playing the piano in his room, and the forceful attacks he can mount in defense of Mamoru or his frightening insistence upon returning the shitennou to their former loyalties.
Strengths:
Loyalty is Zoisite's hallmark, as if he felt he had to make up for Kunzite's fall from 'the most loyal soldier of the shitennou' to the man driven by vengeance. Whatever the reason, Zoisite will uncompromisingly do anything, including dirtying his hands, to keep Mamoru or Endymion safe. Similarly, he was absolutely unable to abandon the shitennou to their fate, leading him to willingly remain under Beryl's thumb even when his mind was finally free. When the shitennou have been all but defeated, Zoisite has still found the strength to scramble to his feet to defend Mamoru from a renewed attack, and he has undergone Beryl's torture without saying a word that might jeopardize Mamoru. This determination gives him great resistance.
Although this relates to his comrades more than to outsiders, Zoisite's kindness is extremely notable among the Dark Kingdom built on rivalries and suspicion and spying. He, alone, visits Nephrite to offer comforting words and support, rather than to mock him further or offer only a very brief word before leaving.
Weaknesses:
His devotion to Endymion or Mamoru, as his lord, is admirable; however, it is dogged and persistent enough to lead Zoisite to willingly put himself in danger. This has gotten him hurt many times, and can still potentially be used against him. It has also led him to compromise his morals in other ways. Although he is clearly reluctant, he is firmly willing to kill Usagi even while no longer under the Dark Kingdom influence, if it will keep Mamoru safe from Beryl.
Zoisite's stubornness also leads him to butt heads with his companions, and borders on genuinely making them dislike encounters with him or frustrated with him. His one-track mind can make him irritating, and lead him to be somewhat blind to other possibilities. He never once considered that the issues facing his world could be solved a different way, only that they must be prevented from occurring.

[He comes to himself still on the ground. The white uniform will need to be cleaned, he notes in passing. The small creatures nudging him bear no resemblence to youma; this place bears no resemblence to the Dark Kingdom. Where is he?
Where is Master Endymion? He struggles to a sitting position, despite the protests of moogles who think he's not ready to move yet. He has to. He raises his hands, as if playing a piano- and indeed, music starts to fill the air, perfect and clear, captured by the communicator as well. It is searching, seeking, desperate.
But after only a moment, he stops. His hands slump and then fall beside him. His eyes find the ground and his shoulders sag in defeat.]

He laughed. The witch raised her arms in fury, uncharitable thoughts about the angry flaring of her nostrils tickled his mind, and Zoisite laughed like a man who knows he's won. He was beyond the pain as her power cut into him again and again. His body shook.
He had no eyes for Jadeite standing beside Beryl, a bitter disappointment in this moment. He had no eyes for anything as his vision swam and he started to wonder, in some part of himself, how long he would last. It didn't matter, really; not a single bolt of that malevolent energy would force the location of Chiba Mamoru - Endymion - from his lips. It would not be better to comply, Jadeite.
"Don't know." He smiled to mock her. The witch's answer was another swipe against the air, another blow that made him stagger back and made his hair fall wildly across his face. Then he saw it, like a martyr of old seeing a vision of the angels, but what opened in the sky was the opposite of Heaven.
Bug-like, black shadows with glowing yellow eyes swarmed into the room from the very Dark Gate opened to let the Darkness of the Great Evil into their world. As they finished Beryl, he smirked once more. It was fitting.
Then for a long while, he knew nothing.
