Lights Concert Review
I saw Lights on tour this summer. I heard she was doing an acoustic tour and was going to be in New York City while I was there so I decided to go. I actually had a hard time finding tickets, but was able to buy them from a guy on Craigslist last minute (I ended up going to the concert with him).
The concert was at this venue called Joe’s Pub. It was a unique venue because it was a restaurant inside. It was really small which is why I think it sold out so fast. Some people had tables and ordered dinner while the music was playing. My tickets didn’t have reserved tables so we just kind of sat down at any area we could find.
I love how Lights uses synthesizers as part of her music. I wasn’t sure how she was going to sound acoustic, but her voice is really good and I like how her songs translate as acoustic songs. I’ve found that I like some of her songs better acoustic and others better non acoustic. These are some videos I got:
Afterwards, I was waiting outside to meet Lights with a bunch of fans and I saw Kelly Cutrone from the MTV Show, The City/The Hills with her kids. Lights was featured in an episode of The City and Kelly is a fan of hers. I said hi to her and got a picture. Lights came out a little later to meet with fans. She didn't have a lot of time to hang out with us, but I got to get a picture with her and she was really nice. I definitely recommend checking her out live if you get a chance.
