Is it really bad that he's willing to change his mind based on the popular opinion? He's simply serving the people. Granted, he's doing it so they'll like him, but in the end it's getting the job done.
Resolve or Flexibility? Stubbornness or Inconsistency?ryanfet82October 1 2004, 23:45:35 UTC
After viewing that little piece of magic called a "presidential debate," I came to similar conclusions. No one's going to argue that Bush came across as the more eloquent speaker. He flat out sucked. Nevertheless, we all know where he stands on the issues.
This is the crux of the choice we have to make in one month's time: would we be better off with a leader who is resolute and decisive or one who could be considered more flexible and cooperative? I think it's very clear that both options have definite pros and cons. It's resolve vs flexibility? Which trait is more important to you personally in a president of the United States? And which is more dangerous: stubbornness or inconsistency???
America has one month to make up its mind. After that, history will judge the decision.
My first comment on your site, and I kind of want to bitch-slap you with it.
First of all, I think one could make a very strong argument for the position that Kerry's issue shifts have not, in fact, been political in nature. -He voted for the Patriot Act, yes, with the sunset provisions, which are due to expire and which Bush wants to keep in effect indefinitely. That means Kerry was willing to put aside certain civil liberties in a time of war, but only under temporary conditions. Now if you disagree with that position, that's fine. I do. But don't say he's not being consistent, because he is. -He voted for the No Child Left Behind Act, yes, although he knew it wasn't a perfect bill (this is what's known as "compromising to get shit done"), and in the back-and-forth flow of legislative government, it passed. And then it didn't get funded properly, it didn't get tended, it was offered up as a half-assed mostly-for-show "we-like-education-really-we-do" statement by the GOP and it failed. So yes, Kerry trashes it. Should he
