Character Name: Ember McLain
Series: Danny Phantom
Gender: Female
Age: 19
Species: Ghost (Human)
Sexuality: Straight

Appearance: Ember's most striking feature is her blue hair, tied up in a ponytail with a black band. Her bangs frame a white face, normally with black eyeliner to give her a more ~*mysterious*~ appearance. It fits with her image, though, since she's going very much for rocker, right down to her clothes. She wears a tank top that cuts off halfway, showing off her stomach, and only wears an elbow-length glove on her right arm. The whole thing gives off a very nice effect between the pale skin and black fabric. Her pants are skintight and, thankfully, fully intact, and the ensemble is completed with grey platform boots sporting skull designs. Occasionally she dresses up like a pirate, but she won't be doing that here. Hopefully.

Personality: Ember has an ego that could probably crush the entire city if left unbridled. She loves hearing her own name to the point where she'll flat-out demand people start saying it and has written a (very popular) song to that effect. Aside from that, well, she's a rebel, she's a saint -- she's the salt of the earth, and she's dangerous. Get in her way and she'll cut you down, and god help you if you're an authority figure. There may be a softer side to her, but she's never let anyone get close enough to find out. Don't expect to get a chance, either; the only thing she brakes for is her reflection. She'll stop at nothing to get what she wants: fame and recognition. And if she gets to sow a little chaos along the way, all the better.

Abilities: Since she's a ghost, she gets all the benefits of that, including flight, invisibility, and intangibility. When people start chanting her name, her hair flares up, turning into a giant blue flame and further amplifying her power. "Amplify" is the key word, since she gets most of her ass-kicking done with her guitar. By turning the knobs, she can turn the sonic energy into one of many different attacks, including a show of brute force and a love spell.

But no, that would make things too easy! She'll have to make do with a normal guitar in Manhattan -- if she can find one. People chanting her name no longer gives her power, since it's linked to her guitar, and she can go neither invisible nor intangible. If a crab gets her, there's no phasing out of it. Instead of flying, she can float a maximum of a few inches off the ground and can sustain that for a while, but not indefinitely.

Weaknesses: All her power comes from her guitar. Without it, she's reduced to fighting down and dirty. She can fistfight and isn't above using underhanded means (brass knuckles, et cetera), but how much good is a punch going to do against Big Mommy? She's had her powers so long that she might not know how to act without them, and she does have a bit of a temper that can cloud her judgment sometimes. But that part shouldn't come as a surprise.

Manhattanite or outsider? Outsider, from Amity Park, Illinois.

History: Ember McLain died at 19, five years ago. The police report was never clear on the details; after all, she was a nobody. Barely any family and even fewer friends. A boyfriend, but not much of one. The only thing she was good at was playing the guitar. The night she died, she was on the way to her very first real gig. It was just an open mic night, but it meant her name would get out there. It meant people would pay attention to her. The idea of it all was good enough to get lost in.

And that's exactly what happened. A car accident, the officers said. Speeding. She was killed on impact, and the scattered wood and bits of metal ending up six or seven feet down the road. They said it was Ember's fault for not paying attention. For darting out into the road. But who could see a black car barreling down the road with its headlights off?

Two people showed up to her funeral, counting the priest, and her so-called boyfriend wasn't the other. She knew; she was there. Her emotions raging, she retreated to the Ghost Zone and spent the next years getting even better. Getting someone to make a custom guitar that could express itself much better than she ever could. And when she was ready, she got together a band full of ghostly musicians, slung her guitar over her shoulder, and broke out into the real world with her immediate hit song, "Remember". If people wouldn't recognize her on their own, she'd force them to.

As her following grew, so did her power and influence. The last stop on her tour before the national show was Amity Park in Illinois -- her old hometown. Things hadn't changed in five years. Nobody remembered her. But as soon as she played the opening chord, the crowd gathered. By the end, they were going wild. Chanting her name. Feeding her fire. And who showed up out of nowhere to stop her from getting everything she ever wanted? That dipstick, Danny Phantom. Humiliating her in front of all of her fans. Making sure she'd only be remembered for failure.

So she went back to the Ghost Zone. Teamed up with another ghost, a kid who thought he was a pirate. Tried to get her reputation back that way, only to be foiled by the Phantom again. And a third time, by the ghost kid's friends. Her axe was ready to grind. After one last trip to the Ghost Zone to collect herself, she stormed out towards Amity Park again. But the nearest portal didn't take her there. Ember's comeback tour starts in the twice-destroyed city of Manhattan. Once a night, every night.
