Once upon a time, Dean was a man.

He was a prince, actually. The heir apparent to the tiny kingdom of Lawrence. He was a man with parents, a brother who looked up to him, and the world at his fingertips. He was aware of what was expected of him, but that didn’t stop him from enjoying his life. The food, the luxuries-even the women ( Read more... )

The splash was caused by the small green crystal that was Lana Lang's most prized possession. Many years ago when she was just a little girl, her parents brought it back for her when they returned from visiting her mother's sister. Her father told her it was a smaller piece of a rock that had fallen from the sky and Lana was fascinated by it. He had the crystal fashioned into a necklace, one she'd worn ever since.

She had been riding one of their horses as she often loved to do when the clasp slipped and the chain fell from her neck. She tried to catch it before it could get away from her, but with no luck.

She pulled the reigns and turned the horse before dismounting and searching the area for where it may have landed.

The presence of the young woman was enough to snap Dean out of his reverie on his rock. It wasn't the most glamorous lifestyle in the world, but it usually would do for a frog, and it got a good angle for the sun. Being cold-blooded really wasn't all it was cracked up to be.

His eyes cut through the water as the necklace sank, dropping further into the water and more out of Lana's reach. She was a pretty girl, one of the local founding families, from what he could gather from the chatter. He was still convinced that the curse was never going to be broken, but that didn't mean he couldn't at least try.

"I could fetch that for you."

In Lana's experience, frogs didn't talk. It's for that reason that she turns around and looks for a person from which the voice might be coming from.

"Who's there? Where are you?"

He smirked a bit at that. Some things never changed when it came to dealing with humans. He tried to resist the urge to tease her, but in the end he's a much weaker man than he'd like to be.

"You will have to look lower than that, milady." He threw in a ribbit for good measure. "Down here, to your left."
