This isn't a day early. This is six days late.
I still hate technology.
Sticking with random thoughts, how 'bout those Tigers?
Before I get to the review, I want to go over a few things that kept me from posting this earlier. First things first, I'm watching my little cousins in Canton on Monday (afternoon), Wednesday and Friday (full day). I also had to help Josh with some pre-Wedding stuff on Thursday. Friday was the day of the rehearsal dinner, Saturday was the wedding and reception, and Sunday was a pool party.
Here are my thoughts on this past weekend:
-Andy, the husband of Josh's new sister-in-law, was at the rehearsal dinner drinking something that looked like that cough medicine you would get from a doctor. When he talked to the waiter about, he said it tasted bad but he wasn't sure exactly why. He is quoted as saying, "It tasted like menstruation."
Then, Andy, an engineer, went up to one of Josh's friends and asked about one of Josh's friends who was living an "interesting" life style. Turns out he was talking to the friend with the interesting life style.
Finally, in the limo after the wedding, the freakin' genius who helped create memory foam was trying a mix drink made by Nuz. After tasting it, he said, "It tastes like deer urine."
Well, if you're gonna make boat loads of money in a couple years, who needs to be polite, I guess?
-The wedding was nice and had a couple funny moments. During the service, they had to light a unity candle. So Josh and Heather went up to light the candle. When they tried to blow out the other candles, they missed and blew out the unity candle. I believe there was a quiet "Oh, shit" coming from one of them. After the candle got re-lit, they went to do a prayer, which had the maid and matron of honor and the best men put a hand on the bride and groom' shoulders. We forgot and had to be directed by the minister, who comment during this saying, "Not only are we pyrotechnically challenged but we're directionally challenged as well."
-Before the pool party actually became a pool party, it was a present opening party. It wasn't until we threw Josh into the pool that it became a pool party. The funny thing was that Josh had no idea what was going on. He thought Heather was just feeling him up and Dave wanted to use his phone. He didn't even notice the four huge guys (well, three huge guys and Mike Morland) surrounding him, waiting for his wallet and phone to get out of his pants to throw him in. Then a couple of bride's maids threw Heather into the pool. Finally, the four of us got a hold of the maid of honor and threw her in, but not after she fought tooth-and-nail to stay out. After that, we brought out suits and started swimming.
-Josh now has bling. Heather has new bling. And, apparently, the DJ thought I was cool.
Songs:
"Mama's Room" by Under The Influence of Giants: Interesting timbre there. They've got a good sound. The song was good but something's missing...something's missing there.
Rating: Pretty good
"Sailed On" by Landon Pigg: Starts a bit uninteresting but wait about 20 seconds; it gets better. Interesting chord progressions. Simple rock band timbre. He's definitely on to something.
Rating: Good
"Do Right By You" by Elan: Nice reggae tones. He's got some good vocals; nothing too over the top. Relaxing. Smooth
Rating: Great
Album (Just one this review. More will be here once the new computer works right again):
Keane "Under The Iron Sea": Wow. I was not expecting it to be so dark. A big difference in tone from their debut, "Hopes and Fears." However, it is well done. "Is It Any Wonder?" is a great song but my favorites on the CD are "Put It Behind You" and "Crystal Ball." Oh, and there is no guitar, just a lot of synthesizer making guitar sounds. It's already nominated for a Grammy. And who knows, maybe in January it will be nominated for a Jeffy.
Rating: 9.5
Oh and here's something you should see, if you haven't already:
