So yesterday I went to this job fair in Madison Square Garden with some brothers and we headed out to NYU for Jummu'ah after which me and Faraz walked around in the Village and SOHO.
So the job fair was alright, the most interesting part is that we met a close friend of airwolfwk and sadtherad 's family. He was representing Daimler Chrylser. I had asked him where he worked and he said Detroit and then told him that i knew a family there and he said that he knew them as well! So at 12:30, Me, Husain, Faraz (brothers from stony) took the uncle with us to NYU for jummu'ah.
NYU is craaaazy. Like the WHOLE city is their campus, subhan Allah! Now i can see why it is the #1 dream school. I absolutely loved their library! I'm horrible with words, i can't describe it, but its absolutely stunning, at least in my opinion. After Jummu'ah we went (me and faraz) went out to eat w/ some nyu brothers. These guys were madd chills, i just wished that Stony was closer to NYU so that we could've met up and hung out more, but what can ya do? insha Allah i'm gonna try to attend more of their events.
After lunch me and faraz hung out in the village. I had never been to this part of the city so he showed me some more of the nyu campus and we went to SOHO. All you non new yorkers MUST visit this place, its really nice. Tons of shops everywhere with tons of people. At one point we passed by a trailer with rooms inside, kind of like where movie stars stay. So i tell faraz to ask someone hanging around what the big deal was and he pointed out Mira Nair . Faraz was really excited, she had directed "vanity fair" and "monsoon wedding" among other movies and was talking to her for a minute. During some time she pointed out someone else and i looked in that direction and it was none other than Kal Penn!!! Faraz came back and i was debating whether or not to go and say wasup to him and we ended up doing so. I didn't want to bother him so we just said was and told him we watched some of his movies, most of you will prolly know of Harold and Kumar go to white castle, but he was also in this small movie, Wheres the party Yaar?. He seemed like a very warm and great guy, he wasn't cocky or arrogant at all and he even took a pic w/ me!
They were filming this new movie, The Namesake, unfort they weren't shooting at all so dont expect to see me in the background of any scenes =(
What a crazy day, alhamdulillah!
