It's been pretty long since i've actually posted something of substance, pretty strange this whole LJ thing. I've had for less than a year, at times i'll go close to a month w/o updating and other times i'll update like 4 times a week .... pretty strange. I guess I'm some what self-conscious of who my audience is, i think sometimes i'm kinda ( Read more... )

I had that same painful realization a few weeks ago when I felt like I grew up overnight. We do get lost in this so-called life and forget that one day we will get to a station where nothing but our deen will matter. In this life we begin to lose ourselves and sight of what is indeed real. I never knew that I would be tested so very much by our Creator and yet here I am. I never thought that life would be harder than it already was and the reality of it is, it does get harder but you can only come out of that if you choose to. That means one must supplicate her/himself to that which is true-- I've been fighting for so long to find the words to say what you said that I have to thank you.

Out of the muddle of words and phrases, I think your post spoke to me about my own situation, the problems I'm having, the traps I'm falling into and the successes I need to prepare myself for. It slips our minds that we are to live in this duniya as a temporary home as the akirah is our permenant home.

i get the same feeling these days when i watch my grandmother go about her day... the kindness, warmth and piety that exudes from her just make me smile and want to be a better person. subhan'Allah, His signs are everywhere if one takes a closer look.

AsSalaamu Alaykum Haroon,

I hope your doing well inshallah. I just had a couple of questions for you. My friends and I are planning a trip to NY inshallah in August and I was hoping you can share some info with us, like about cheap but nice hotels, places to check out, places to eat halal food (afghan restaurants? whats the chicken place you mention in your posts?), nice cafes, masjids to attend (which masjid has the biggest numbers for jummah prayer?), etc. Our trip is only for 3 and half days and we are going to visit a friend who just moved there a month ago, so she is not all that aware of the cities (She lives in Queens).
Any info would be appreciated. I hope your summer is going well for you. Take care and jaazaks in advance.

Khuda hafez!
