I'm not really sure if it's that exaggerated...but it's there. At least for me.

Really? I will concur with a slight difference between the two countries, but I don't know anyone who says ah-boot. I just think people who try to explain the difference lack a better way to describe it.

That's what I'm saying, I don't tend to hear it so exaggerated that it actually comes as ah-boot. There is a slight difference, and sometimes we've been called on it.. Once in interview Tegan and I were arguing about some of our first jobs and the interviewer interjected "How do you say job?" Personally I didn't hear any kind of accent...maybe different people hear different things.
