A short story by me...

Mar 22, 2014 21:55

This is a supernatural take (Not Supernatural, mind you) using two characters from an original story.  This has nothing to do with the longer story, just something I wanted to write.  However, I suck at short stuff...
Science
Kelton leaned against the bar, glancing again at his watch.  8:15 pm.  Sean had said 8 pm but then again Sean was always late so Kelton wasn’t worried.  He sipped at his drink, made wrong as usual but he hadn’t felt like arguing.  Across the room several girls were eyeing him and he wished his lover would hurry.  He thought back across the three years he’d been with Sean and of all the things he’d accomplished in that time. Tonight Sean had gone to dinner with his mom whom Sean had, had a torturous relationship with for most of his life. Kelton had also remained in contact with Amber, Sean’s ex-wife, after Sean had left her to be with Kelton. The only relationship in Sean’s life Kelton could never and would never repair was the one with Eric, Sean’s dad. He hid a small smile behind the rim of his drink; he must be getting old to worry about relationships that need to be repaired. Maybe it was biological, after all his mother had worked hard to make his life easy perhaps he was just passing it on. The smile dropped when out of the corner of his eye he caught movement as one of the girls stood up and seemed to be in a debate with her friends all of who were casting glances in his direction.  He sighed and studied the floor, knowing that any moment she was going to approach him.  He really didn’t like being rude to people but sometimes that was what it took to make them go away.  It hadn’t worked with Sean though.  A commotion at the door dragged his attention away from the girls and he looked up to see Sean entering with Chris and Amber, except Amber was stuck at the door, digging to find her ID in her purse.  Sean watched for a moment and then turned to survey the room. Kelton felt a tremor of anticipation run through his nervous system.  Even after three years together, the sight of Sean still made him feel the way he’d felt their first night together.  Sean grinned and began to make his way through the crowd.
“Excuse me?” a slight touch at his elbow, Kelton looked down.  It was the girl from across the room. “My friends and I were wondering…”
“Kel.”  Warm breath moved across his neck as a hand slid down his back and over his ass. He turned to find Sean’s face inches from his own.  He pulled Sean into an embrace and kissed him while his insides melted and ran down to begin to solidify in his groin. Sean noticed and pulled back.
            “Happy to see me?”
“Always.” He kissed Sean again and then with reluctance turned back to the girl who was still standing beside him, open mouthed.  “Wondering what?”
“Forget it, you’re gay.” She shot Sean a venomous look and stormed away.
He tightened his arm around Sean’s waist. “That I am.”
Sean laughed.  “Almost 30 and they still find you irresistible.”
“Almost 30?  I have one more year, don’t rush me.” Kelton sighed. “Soon you will trade me in for someone younger.”
“Never!” Sean’s denial was violent and his arms tightened. They turned together as Amber and Chris approached.
It was strange in a way to be friends with his lover’s ex-wife but he made it work.  As far as Kelton was concerned, Amber’s only downfall with Sean had been the fact that she was female.  She had gotten remarried last year another and Sean had happily taken the role of maid of honor at her request.  Amber’s family hadn’t liked it but she had pointed out that it was her wedding and she was going to do it her way this time.
“Hey Sean, Kel.” Amber smiled at them but wouldn’t meet Kelton’s eyes.  He thought it was because she still harbored some small amount of animosity over the theft of her former husband then again maybe she was just nervous around him like most people were. “Let’s get a table guys.  I worked all day and I am tired of standing.”
Kelton gathered his drink in one hand and took Sean’s hand in his other.  He kept hold of Sean’s hand as they sat; rubbing the ring on Sean’s left hand with his thumb.  The ring that Sean had never removed since Kelton had placed it there three years ago.  Although the state of Texas might not recognize it, Kelton was as good as married to Sean.
They sat, chatting about nothing in particular, waiting for the band to come onstage.  Sean continually looked around the room, pointing out people who were staring at Kelton.  He thought it was all very silly but Sean loved being the center of jealous attention.  Sean’s hand was now on Kelton’s thigh, inching its way closer to his crotch.  He shifted uncomfortably and leaned towards Sean.
“Stop or you won’t get to see the band.” He growled low in Sean’s ear.  Sean turned to look at him, all wide eyed innocence and let his fingers skate over the zipper of Kelton’s jeans before moving his hand back into Kelton’s.  He smiled and Kelton leaned to kiss him. The chemistry of their saliva mixing to create an unbreakable bond was almost enough to make him drag Sean home right then.
“You two disgust me.” Chris was staring at them.
“Because we’re two guys kissing?” Sean let annoyance drift into his voice.
“No because you’re so damn lovey-dovey. Three years and you still act like newlyweds. It’s so sugar sweet it’s obscene.”
Any retort Sean might have made was drowned out by the crowd when the lights of the club were dimmed.  It was a local Dallas band who Kelton had never heard of but that wasn’t unusual since he didn’t pay attention to the local scene anymore.  When they were done and the lights came back up Sean leaned towards him.
“I’m going to walk around and get a drink.  Do you want anything?”
“You know what I like.  Chris, Amber, you guys want anything?”
They put in their orders with Sean and he gave Kelton a quick kiss before leaving the table.  Kelton watched him walk away, moving through the crowd with remarkable grace for someone such long legs.  He smiled, several years ago he wouldn’t have trusted Sean to be by himself in a club since he’d been addicted to just about anything that came in pill form and had overdosed twice in the first year they had known each other.  He’d also tried to kill himself which had been the breaking point for Kelton.  He’d given Sean an ultimatum: him or the drugs.  Sean had chosen him, went to rehab and had come back clean.  Only one time since he’d been back had Sean slipped.  They had just gotten back from their ‘honeymoon’ and had gone to the house Sean had shared with Amber.  Seeing Amber had been fine but Sean’s parents had stopped by while they were getting Sean’s clothes loaded into Kelton’s car.  Eric, Sean’s father, had demanded that Sean stop seeing Kelton and Sean had shoved the ring in Eric’s face telling him that Kelton and he were married.  Eric’s first blow hit Sean in the stomach but Kelton had stopped the second fist before it touched Sean. Although he’d been filled with rage, Kelton had only released Eric’s hand.  He’d moved to stand in front of Sean and calmly told Eric that if he ever touched Sean again Kelton would break every bone in both his hands.  Eric had backed down but he had not been happy about doing so.  Kelton stood outside until he had seen their car turn the corner at the end of the street and then he had gone inside to check on Sean.  He’d found him in the bathroom, a bottle of antidepressants lying on its side.  Fortunately Sean had only taken two before knocking the bottle over into the sink and the rest had gone down the drain.  He’d knelt beside Sean and held him while he cried; asking over and over why his parents couldn’t accept what he was or just leave him alone. Sean had never slipped again.
Onstage there was a great amount of activity as a drum kit, guitars, and all the other paraphernalia a band would need was moved into position.  He would personally rather be at home but Sean had developed a great liking for the band headlining tonight.  Strange Mirror.  They were alright, he supposed, but he wasn’t a huge fan of going to clubs.  Maybe he was getting old.

He sat up when the lights dimmed, wondering where Sean was.  He started to rise to go look for him as the bass launched into a slow, sexy groove but froze halfway up.  The first night he’d met Sean, he’d had a fantasy of Sean on stage dressed exactly the same as the singer onstage now.  He sank back into his seat as his eyes traveled up the slender body, legs encased in leather, shirtless, the black streaked red-brown hair and his breath caught in his throat. It wasn’t Sean, it couldn’t be. It was.  He glanced back over his shoulder to find Sean moving through the crowd of people pressing for the stage.  Sean’s mouth was open, which made sense since his apparent twin was standing on stage.  He slid into the booth beside Kelton, who kissed him hard.  Kelton wanted to ask why the singer was his lover’s exact twin but Sean wasn’t paying him any attention.  He would ask later.
As the singer moaned into the microphone, Kelton could swear that he was looking straight at their table.  Had he noticed how much Sean and he looked alike?  Impossible, with the lights in his face there was no way the singer could see them.  He glanced at Chris and Amber who had apparently not noticed anything out of the ordinary, which Kelton thought strange.  Surely they would have at least said something or at least looked at Sean to compare the mirror image of him on stage.  Kelton slid one hand up to tangle his fingers in Sean’s hair.  He then twisted Sean’s mouth around to his.  Sean allowed the kiss and then pulled away to watch the band, apparently fascinated with his doppelganger onstage.
When Strange Mirror announced they were taking a break, Sean jumped up and disappeared into the crowd.  Confused and he glanced at Amber and Chris who only shrugged.  He pushed out of the booth and looked around, not seeing Sean anywhere.  It then hit him that he really had to pee.
There were two other guys in the bathroom when he entered but they left after a few moments.  He stood in front of the mirror checking for wrinkles as he washed his hands.  For a moment his eyes unfocused and it seemed as though the bathroom slipped sideways and then righted itself.  He blinked and shook his head.  Damn, he’d only had three drinks.  Maybe that had been a sign of age?  He glanced up when the door opened and Sean, no it wasn’t Sean it was the singer, walked in.  Moving purposefully like a stalking leopard, the singer slid up beside Kelton.
            “I saw you watching me.”
“You look like someone I know.”
“I can look like a lot of people, Kel.”
Kelton turned toward him, carefully keeping his face and voice neutral. “How do you know my name?”
“I know a lot about you, Kel.  I know how much pressure you like when having your dick sucked, I know what you like to hear when fucking a lover or being fucked yourself, I know, Kel.  I want you, Kel and I am going to have you.”
“Who the fuck are you?” The singer was pushing him back against the wall.  He was surprisingly strong.  Somewhere in the back of Kelton’s mind a voice was trying to tell him something but the words were not clear.  His arms felt heavy and he wanted to kiss this man.
“I want you, Kel.  I know what you want.” He brought his mouth to Kelton’s and blinding color flooded Kelton’s mind, erasing all warnings and coherent thoughts.  There was only the hot mouth on his and the sweat slicked body against his that his hands were now stroking and holding.  He took a deep breath, the singer even smelled like Sean.  Sean?  I had a lover named Sean one time, he thought and then it slipped away.
“Who are you?” He whispered against the soft lips of the singer.
“I am who ever you want me to be.  I am a mirror.  I reflect what you want to see, I can be anyone.” He kissed Kelton again and this time when he pulled back, Kelton was holding Aaron, his first love.
“Oh God, Aaron.” He pulled the singer’s body to him.
“Yes, Kel, Aaron.  I can be anyone. I know your fears.  You feel you are aging and he will leave you.  It is true, but I can keep you young forever.  I will never leave you.”  Kelton felt his body weakening even more.  Young forever, he thought.  His hands slid over the singer’s ass and he looked down to find the singer had unzipped his pants and was sliding his hand inside.  He moaned and arched his back.  Somewhere a door opened.
Sean couldn’t remember having done anything tonight except drink and he hadn’t done enough of that to produce the vision he was now experiencing. Kelton was making out with the singer Kelton.  When Strange Mirror had taken the stage, Sean had thought he was having an acid flashback or something.  The lead singer looked exactly like Kelton from the muscular defined body to the shaggy blonde hair.  He’d wanted to ask Kelton about the occurrence but from the look on his lover’s face he had already noticed.  As soon as the band had stopped for a break he’d forgotten about talking to Kelton and had pushed through the crowd towards the backstage area where he’d been denied entrance.  He’d waited, hoping the singer would come out and he could see him up close.  He’d waited for about ten minutes and then his bladder had started bitching to be emptied which was how he had ended up in the bathroom and was now watching the two before him.  The singer Kelton was stroking his Kelton’s cock and instead of being jealous, Sean found the scene highly erotic.  The singer turned to him with a seductive smile and held out a hand.  Sean, bladder temporarily forgotten, drifted across the bathroom to take the outstretched hand.  The singer pulled him between the two blondes.   The singer’s mouth closed on Sean’s while Kelton’s hand slid down his sides and across his stomach. Sean had never been so close to coming so fast as he was right then, not even the first time he’d been with another boy. It was hot in the bathroom and he closed his eyes when the room began to slide sideways. Had someone slipped something in his drink? His eyes flew open as a sharp pain dragged down his left side.  Fear crowded into the back of his throat as he saw the undisguised hatred burning in the singer’s eyes.
“Kel?” his voice cracked.
“He can’t hear you. I can do anything I want to you and he won’t move a muscle to help you.”
“Why are you doing this? How are you doing this?”
The singer only smiled as he began reforming into the one person Sean truly feared. Eric. His father, his nemesis. Memories of the years of physical and emotional abuse began flashing through his mind. He closed his eyes tight against the flood but another sharp pain in his side cause him to open them wide.  He gasped from the pain and from the familiar face in front of him.
“Why…?” He couldn’t finish forming the question.
“You are in the way. He doesn’t need you anymore. You are too weak for him.”
“Kel…please wake up.”
“He can’t hear you, stupid fuck.” The singer smiled again, but it wasn’t pleasant. “Kelton, hold him for me.”
Kelton’s arms surrounded Sean, holding his arms to his side and immobilizing him. Sean knew he couldn’t fight Kelton; he’d always been physically weaker than his lover. The singer backed away, still smiling.
“I think I am going to have him kill you.  You mean nothing to him and I can keep him from ever knowing what he did. At least until I tire of him.”
Sean slumped in Kelton’s arms. He couldn’t fight, he knew he should try but he also knew he would fail. The singer began speaking again.
“Kelton, kill him.”
Sean shuddered as Kelton’s hands traveled up his body almost in a caress and tears began working their way down his cheeks. He raised his head.
“Can I make one request?”
The singer sighed and rolled his eyes. “What? If you are going to ask to go free the answer is no.”
“I just want to kiss him one more time.”
The singer laughed. “Kel, kiss him one last time then kill him.”
Sean turned until he was facing Kelton who only gazed blankly back at him. He closed his eyes as Kelton’s mouth came down on his.
Kelton felt like there were cobwebs in his head and spots in his vision; he couldn’t clear either.  He could feel a body in his arms but he couldn’t actually see the body. He knew it wasn’t the singer. He knew the singer was talking to someone but he couldn’t hear any voice answering the singer. He tried to clear his mind but it wasn’t working, the thoughts all seemed bound up in a knot he couldn’t untie. He felt his arms begin to move up the body he was holding that he couldn’t see. It felt good under his hands, lithe and warm, and he wished he could see it. A moment later he felt the body turn in his arms and he moved his head down to kiss the mouth he couldn’t see.  Soft, yielding lips met his but something wasn’t right. His mouth wasn’t working right. He forced his tongue out, sliding it between the lips and teeth of the mouth he was blind to. He closed his eyes as the kiss deepened and his arms tightened.
“Kill him, Kel.” He pulled away, savoring the flavor of the kiss. The chemistry of the saliva mixing with his creating a bond. Something somewhere snapped into focus.
“Aaron’s dead.” He looked at the auburn haired boy in his arms. “None of it was real, was it?”
“It was as real as you wanted it to be.” The singer stepped forward and put his hands on Sean’s back. “I can make it real for you, Kel.”
“Can you really now?”
“What?”
“I thought I told you never to touch him again Eric.” He was now focused on the singer.
The singer was confused, “You don’t see me as…”
“Wrong.” He released Sean and took hold of the singer’s left wrist. He twisted the arm until the singer was kneeling on the floor before him.
“What? How! No one’s ever broken my hold!” The singer writhed in pain, still in his guise as Eric.
“How did you break his spell, Kel?” Sean, glanced at the pathetic creature on the floor before raising his eyes to Kelton’s.
“Chemistry.” Kelton smiled and released the man on the floor, “Let’s go home.”
