I started working a term position for the gov't 6 weeks ago. I still have not been paid. I still have not been told when I will get a first paycheque. They tell me that because of staffing "issues", their compensation department is running a bit slow

My goodness! It is RIDICULOUS that you haven't gotten paid and even more so that they can't tell you when you might be! A department 'running late' is just no excuse :-( I hope it get straightened out really soon - I couldn't go 6 weeks without a salary!
