Is the picture of perfection really beauty?

Jul 06, 2004 15:16

Even with life's unexpected roller coaster, it still goes on. It's an amazing battle between physical and emotional relationships. Everyday people struggle to feel as though they belong. They worry about how they look and how other people will see them. Every day, women see the pictures of women who are "perfect". They see the women who are ( Read more... )

Excellent Char, Really, here is my way important review
It was nice to take a break from my summer work load to read this. I like how you incorperated little factiods. What was most important to me, is that you had PASSION. Passion is KEY to anything.I am very impressed, and since it is your first editorial, I will cut you some slack on your few errors. For one thing, i like the facts but try to cut them down and try to not use that many sources. Just cut down to the bare min cause afterall its YOUR editorialnot someone elsess, ya know?

also, you tend to use some words oveer and over again. Look at it and see if you can pick em out

but lke i said, you believe what you write and thats what shows and what counts. you might also wanna ask yourslef why do people engage in these destructive habits? in addition, you should pose solutions and not just bitch about how sucky it is.

thats all i can think of forn ow, forgive me mymin ids on hitler and nazi germany.

Thank you Ally. You know how much your in-put means to me. Yes, I read it over, and I noticed how I did use the same words many times. Also, next time, I definitely plan to use the sources, but put them indefinitely in completley my own words, and toss them around in it, to make the flow better.

Actually while I was taking a shower, I thought about how I should have posed more solutions, because you're right, otherwise it's just bitching, and not really helpful to anyone, which of course defeats the purpose as to why I'm writing in the first place, right?

And good luck with that Hitler and Nazi Germany thing.

Charlotte, i think that you putting all of these facts down in writing should help other people. i was never aware of how popular these disorders are, i mean you always hear it in health class "it effects a large majority of the population of teens" but it never really sinks in until you take the time to think about it. and by reading your entry, reality struck; for me anyway.

i can admit that i sometimes feel bad about the way i look because of the imposing idea of a perfect body by comparison to a model. i hate to say it, but it happens and i think that by you posting this up, people will recognize what a serious problem this is. i'd like to thank you for writing this, not too many people write about serious stuff like this, but you did, and that makes it all the better.

best wishes, and thanks again
Jill

Thank you so much Jill! Your words mean alot to me, and to know that I was able to help you understand more fully, and really see what has been happening in society makes me feel like I was really able to do good by bitching about this stuff (as Ally says..hehe). But really, I'm glad my passion on this topic was able to reach you.
Thanks for your encouragement!

"10 million females and 1 million males "
-> That's so wrong that girls seem to be affected more than guys..I mean I know society makes it that way but just the fact that like you said about the young girls needing to feel like they need to be on a diet..that's so sad

That was really good..I can't wait to read another. I hope you're writing another?
