Crack in Pringles?

Feb 27, 2008 22:08

Just wondering, but is there crack in Pringles? There is no other food that I am addicted to such as these. I don't particularly think of them in general, but once the canister is open, I just can't stop ( Read more... )

I think there could very well be crack in Pringles. I can never eat just one!

Lol. I know, never was there a truer advertising slogan. The taste is augmented by the aerodynamic shape of those sneaky little things and the delightful crack when you bite into them. It's like they had chip designers or something.

A while back my best friend's mom was designing a fat free substance called Olean which would have helped them be fat free (along with many other food products). The substance didn't end up getting approved by the FDA, but they had tons of canisters in their house and I never had the problems that the FDA had with them (various kinds of indigestion, etc). I think I may be able to source my love for them to that time period.

They used to have a slogan "once you pop, you just can't stop" Olean was approved and I have eaten it in chips! They made a few different Frito-Lay chips with it. The fat-free Pringles are actually pretty good, but way more expensive than the regular ones.

My can't-put-it-down food is warm pitas with hummous, chips with fresh salsa, or pumpkin pudding, or choclate covered cherries, or peanut butter cups, or jalapeno poppers... do I have to pick just one? Sorry, I love food...

You're right: Olean was approved, but Olestra, the base ingredient wasn't. I have tried fat-free Frito Lay potato chips, but I don't like their recipe. Somehow it always comes out too greasy. I like thicker chips that have a real crunch, rather than a crumble ( ... )

A lot of sugary or salty snacks hit me the same way. Little round, crispy, glistening, salty tostito chips... chocolate chip cookies... snickerdoodle cookies... popcorn...

Anything with milk or semi-sweet chocolate in it. Ice cream. Sprinkles (no, those two do not necessarily need to go together). Chips of any kind, because my perfectionism always makes me think that I could eat another one better; I could savor it more and get more out of it. Actually, I'm that way about all food, which is possibly why I am starting to gain weight again.

Lol, I hope I'm not contributing to your weight gain with this post. I figure if you have to gain weight, get the most enjoyment as possible out of it.

Personally I like darker and bitter chocolate. How do you feel about white? My partner is a such a serious chocoholic that he probably ranks in the grandma level of chocolate loving. He likes to make hot chocolate at home by warming milk and mixing in chunks of chocolate-- which is actually how they do it in cafes here when you order hot chocolate. Highly recommended for the chocolate aficionado. I also recommend doing the same with warm milk and cloves. Cinnamon is, of course, good for both.

Yum. :)

It's those containers. You can just go right through them. You eat a normal size serving and then say, well hey, just a little bit more, just a little bit more, oh look, there's barely any left, I might as well just finish it off. ;)

They also sell those single serving sizes, which I've never tried, but which seem like a good idea.

Did you know that the workers at the B&J's factory in Vermont get two pints of ice cream free a week as well as a free health care plan/gym membership. They would need it. Talk about perks.

So the all-important question is: what's your favorite flavor(s) and why?

Also, haven't talked to you in a while, but I've been thinking about you. Hope you've been well, Aaron.

(I'll ask you about your preference toward Obama another time, but I'm interested to hear your opinion.)
