AU TRIP TO ITALY YEEEEAH
Italy is living up to Holmes's expectations, and he's been enjoying these romantic excursions with Watson. He misses London and detective work, but they've been doing enough new things that Holmes can't miss it too much. He's really been quite happy, showing off France to Watson; in a way, going to France had felt like returning home. France has always been close to Holmes's heart, and sharing it with Watson had been very charming.
He was almost sad to leave and continue on to Italy, but here, everything is new, so Holmes can experience along with Watson, and that is beautiful in a whole new way. The architecture and the art is outstanding; they've made it to a concert, and they've taken in enough samplings of splendid cuisine that Holmes is sure he won't need to eat for another three months.
Their evenings are almost as wonderful as the days; he's always thrilled to get Watson alone, to share tender looks and kisses and touches, to hold him close in an unfamiliar bed and sleep peacefully. Despite having spent a wonderful day touring a handsome chapel, Holmes is eagerly leading them to their room with Watson on his arm.
"After you," he nearly purrs, far too pleased to be speaking in any other tone, and he opens the door for them.
Thank God beds are so expensive. They share a bed and have no need for concern, if only they behave themselves well, don't act too suspicious. He smiles, rather luxuriously happy with everything.
