I went to the 12:46am showing of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" this morning,
The hauntingly quiet beginning sets the tone and immediately hooks you in.
Pace is quick and keeps your rapt attention; however, there are enough quick lulls to give you a breather so you enjoy this spectacular ride with a chuckle.
If you've read the books, I personally do not think this one disappoints. Key scenes that fans raved about ARE in the movie. When they occurred, I can attest from personal experience, the movie theatre sounded like a football stadium filled with the winning team's fans. It was deafening.
This is an emotional roller coaster ride -- BRING TISSUE. Then, SHARE IT WITH YOUR NEIGHBOR. A young man next to me could not control the tears when Snape's moment in the spotlight played upon the big screen (you know which one I mean book readers). First came the sniffles, and then the fanboy sobs. *squish*
Chills.
More chills.
Bumpy gooses on top of more bumpy gooses.
Molly Weasely. Professor McGonagall. Nevil Longbottom. Need I say more?
You will not find Death sugar coated in this movie re-telling. Students die and some beloved characters die. This is a battle and the movie pulls it off with awe-induced special effects, rooting moments, disheartening loss, and my second favorite line in movie history being shouted.
19 years later there is a bit of cheese, but we like cheese and are thankful.
I have read all the books and now, I've seen all the movies. HP7.2 does us fans proud by making the final curtain as the truest homage to the books than ever before. I plan on going back a second time. Possibly even a third.
And remember, help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who deserve it. Always.
