Playback Magazine's 10 to Watch 7/4/05: Lauren Lee Smith Smith recently wrapped on the dramatic feature comedy The Last Kiss, directed by L Word helmer Tony Goldwyn. Working with actors Zach Braff and Rachel Bilson, Smith notes, "It's the most mainstream movie I've done so far, and I play this young, crazy, bitchy mom. But again, I took it so I could jump into something I've never done, something new."

Boston Globe 9/15/06: Lauren Lee Smith 'Last Kiss' commits to low fidelity
By Ty Burr, Globe Staff | September 15, 2006
Co-worker Chris (Casey Affleck, very good) is married with a baby son, but his wife (Lauren Lee Smith) is driving him crazy with demands that he change a diaper or two.
....
In the end, it's the characters who are betrayed, particularly the women. Chris' s wife is an exhausted shrew, end of story. The college girl's a siren, then a clinger. Jenna is smotheringly affectionate until she becomes a hellhound of fury. What about their fears? ``The Last Kiss" pays them lip service but it's never really interested.

Playing the girl next door certainly hasn't been Lauren Lee Smith's calling card. At the age of 26, the Vancouver-born actress has played a lesbian chef in The L Word, a sex addict in Lie With Me and a kick-ass telepath in Mutant X. Her latest role, in The Last Kiss, is no less racy. In the film, Smith plays a severely stressed-out mother and wife to co-star Casey Affleck. "When I read for the part," she says, "the director's only notes were: 'Horrible. She has to be horrible. Yelling. Screaming. Awful. Let it all go!" Smith was the final star to join the impressive talent behind this remake of the Italian film L'Ultimo bacio.
....
Staying rooted can be a tall order when hanging with the likes of Braff and Bilson. While shooting in Montreal, Smith soon discovered first-hand the challenges of stardom. "Everywhere we went, there were people crowding around," she marvels. "It was interesting to sit back and watch that unfold." She may be friends with Hollywood's hottest, but Smith remains focused on acting, not fame. "It's not about becoming super-famous. It's about the storytelling."

Vancouver Sun 6/21/07: Lauren Lee Smith Sexy roles just come her way: B.C.-born Lauren Lee Smith plays seductive TV 'weather girl' in latest movie
Michael D. Reid, Published: Thursday, June 21, 2007
She says she savoured getting to showcase her acting chops as Lisa, the overbearing Wisconsin wife of Casey Affleck's cuckolded character who mistakenly believes having a baby will save her marriage in Tony Goldwyn's The Last Kiss. "Sometimes it's fun just to let it all hang out, like when I played this bitchy, horrible mother," says Smith. "It's fun to show up and not have to worry about looking pretty and getting to scream and yell and be a nasty person and get paid for it."
