Official Synopsis: Three black-clad men sneak through the door of the Wycoff Chemical Plant just as the Mutant X team races to the plant in the Double Helix. Knowing that major environmental polluters own all the chemical plants that have been blown-up recently, Emma (Lauren Lee Smith) defends the unknown group responsible. Meanwhile inside the plant, the men become confused when they reach an intersection. The leader, Skye (Steve Boyle), orders Tyler (Ryan Scott Greene) to use his special powers which allow him to for-see the future to distinguish which tunnel leads to the storage facility. Looking down each hallway, Tyler has psychic visions of the outcome of each path. As Tyler comes out of his visions he holds his head in pain before leading Skye and Deacon (Wesley French) to the containment room where they begin setting up their explosives. Arriving at the scene, the Mutant X team immediately splits up to search for the men. Completing their mission, Tyler tunes into his powers to determine the path that leads outside. That vision, however, is quickly followed by another of him and Emma engaged in an intimate moment. When the men attempt to flee, Brennan (Victor Webster) tells Emma to cover the exit. Just as the men reach the door, Tyler instinctively turns around, locks eyes with Emma and the two become lost in each other’s gaze. Tyler is quickly shaken out of his trance and the three men head out of the building. A moment later Brennan returns to Emma's post and learns that the men got away. Realizing that the explosives are about to detonate, the team flees and gets out in the nick of time. Back at Sanctuary, Brennan, who has begun questioning Emma's commitment to the team, discusses her actions with Adam (John Shea). Meanwhile in the media room, Jesse (Forbes March), Shalimar (Victoria Pratt) and Emma try to identify the manufacturer of the eagle-crested climbing gear used by the eco-terrorists. When Adam approaches Emma she explains to him that she felt as if she intimately connected with one of the men. Concerned, Adam decides to take her off the case for her own good. Frustrated and confused, Emma packs a bag and sets off to find Tyler. Arriving at the beach, she finds the retailer who supplied the men with the eagle-crested rigs and uses her powers to coax him into revealing their location. As she walks along the beach, she is greeted by Skye and asks him where Tyler is. Skye offers to take her to him, but just as they ride off on his jet ski, Tyler returns back to shore. As he watches them cruise through the water, he is suddenly struck by a vision of the jet ski submerging, causing Emma to fall off and drown. Fighting the pain caused by the vision, Tyler watches his vision come true and races to the water to save Emma. Meanwhile, Brennan, Shalimar and Jesse arrive at the beach and split up to find the retailer of the climbing gear. Shalimar wanders into Climber's Haven where the same salesman who helped Emma informs her that the men she's looking for are having a huge party that evening. Back on the beach, Emma agrees to meet Tyler at the party later and the two bid farewell. That night, Emma joins Tyler at the party Skye approaches the couple and starts giving Emma a hard time. Seeing her teammates across the room, Emma excuses herself and follows them into Skye's messy trailer. Finding the harnesses used in the chemical plant break-in, they tell Emma that it is time to stop these men, but she convinces them to hold off until they make their next move. When she opens the trailer door however, Skye and Deacon are there armed and ready to fight. Brennan, Jesse and Shalimar push in front of Emma and accept the challenge, but are soon interrupted by Tyler. The next morning, Tyler and Emma sit by the fire discussing their powers. As they share a passionate kiss, Tyler is struck by a vision of Emma dying during one of his chemical plant raids. Shaken by what he's just seen, he pulls away just as Skye and Deacon approach. Concerned for Emma's safety, Tyler tells her to stay away. When Emma re-approaches him later, he reveals Skye's personal crusade to clean all the oil out of the ocean in one fell swoop. Emma convinces Tyler that Skye's just using him and the two agree to meet at the docks at noon. Later, Brennan finds Emma waiting at the docks and the two have a confrontation. Meanwhile, Skye arrives at Tyler's shack and threatens to kill Emma if he doesn't help with one final job. The plan is to blow up Omdi Corp Plant in order to release enzymes they have stored, which will eat up the world's spilled oil and fossil fuels. Scared for Tyler's safety, Emma returns to Sanctuary and informs the team of Skye's plan. As they race to the plant, Adam warns how dangerous the enzymes are and that millions of people could die. At the plant, a defensive Emma hits Shalimar with a psionic blast and takes off to find Tyler. She finds the three men in the containment vault and warns them that if they release the gas millions of innocent lives will be lost. Unconcerned, Skye is about to detonate the explosives when Shalimar arrives on the scene. As she goes after Skye, Tyler's head begins to throb and he tells Emma that in his vision Skye punctures the tank with a bullet and they all die. Pleading with Skye, Tyler experiences another series of visions. When he comes to, he tells Emma that he loves her, pushes her to the ground and rushes Skye. Skye shoots the canister just as Tyler hits the button on the vault door trapping the two of them inside. The team rushes to Emma as they watch the two men dissolve into thin air the moment the powerful gas hits them.

Quotes:
Emma: What are we doing, anyway? These guys aren’t criminals.
Jesse: Really? What do you call people who blow up private property?

Brennan: Maybe she’s got sympathies for what these guys are doing.
Adam: Wait, are you saying that you don’t trust her?
Brennan: All I know is the next time I go into a situation, we’d better all be on the same team.

Shalimar: Man, I’ll bet there’s a whole lineup of people waiting to get their hands on these guys once we take them down.
Emma: And if this were a sane world, they’d be lining up to take down the guys that own Wyckoff Chemicals. You know last year, they pumped over 12 million pounds of ethylene oxide into the environment?
Shalimar: Which is?
Jesse: Oh, right on the top of everyone’s hit list of cancer-causing chemicals. I agree, Emma.

Emma: Look, if this is about what happened at the chemical factory...
Adam: Well, yeah, it is. And you have to understand why I’d be concerned.
Emma: You or Brennan?

Shalimar: You may be able to fool everyone else, but not me.
Emma: In the chemical plant, when I reached out and tried to sense the thieves, I contacted one of their minds. He was in the same contact with me, and he was loving me.
Shalimar: What do you mean, he gave you a love hit? I mean, you can do that.
Emma: It was more than that. It was like he’d always known me and I’d always known him, like we were meant for each other. I know it sounds crazy, but think about it. People always talk about people who fall in love at first sight.
Shalimar: And he just happens to be a psycho terrorist.
Emma: Nothing’s ever easy, is it? I have to find him.
Shalimar: Emma, please don’t do this.
Emma: Adam thinks that I’m not thinking clearly, but I am. I’ll call if I find anything. [Jesse walks in] You heard.
Jesse: Yep.
Emma: You gonna try and stop me too?
Jesse: Thought you might need these.

Emma: You know, this is gonna sound like some cheesy line, but have we ever met before?
Tyler Ryan: A lot of people say that.
Emma: I don’t know what it is, but I feel like you know me. Like you can see right through me. Crazy, right?
Tyler: You’re coming on to me.
Emma: I haven’t decided yet.
Tyler: Yeah, you have. Everything’s already decided, we’re just waiting for it to happen.
Emma: Well, that sounds a little predictable.
Tyler: Not if you know what’s coming is everything you’ve been waiting for your entire life.

Shalimar: Down boys.
Jesse: Oooo, but if I wasn’t such a professional.
Brennan: Yeah, Mr. Professional.

Brennan: Any luck?
Jesse: Yeah. Five, six numbers so far.
Brennan: Don’t make me hurt you.

Skye: If you’re gonna hang with Tyler, you’ve gotta understand something. He’ll spend time with you now, but before you know it, he’s gonna come back to me, hunting down the next big wave or the next untouched mountain.

Jesse: You know, being a terrorist is one thing. But at least these guys could be neat.

Emma: So when did you find out you were special?
Tyler: Special...funny, growing up, that’s not the word I would have used to describe it.
Emma: Okay, when did you discover you were different?
Tyler: The first vision I remember having was of my little brother. I was nine, he was seven. I saw him lying on the grass. There was something about him, his skin. He was blue. I knew he was dead. I figured it couldn’t be, right? I mean, it had to be a dream. My mind playing tricks on me. The next day he drowned in a neighbor’s pool. They tried to revive him.
Emma: Oh my God. Tyler, I’m so sorry.
Tyler: I spent years blaming myself. I didn’t know it was really going to happen.
Emma: So you see the future.
Tyler: Future possibilities. Various doors that, if opened, will lead to specific outcomes. I never had a name for what I did.
Emma: I spent a lot of my life trying to figure out my own gifts. So, what did you see when we met.
Tyler: Why don’t you tell me?
Emma: It’s different. You know, I don’t see things like you do. But what I felt, it’s hard to describe. You know, it was like this immediate connection, as if for the first time in my life, I found someone who really understands what it’s like...
Tyler: To live your life every day knowing things that normal people don’t even consider. Someone who learned to shut out people around you just to keep your own sanity intact.
Emma: Someone you feel so safe with because you know he’s more like you than anyone else.

Adam: What the hell is she thinking?
Brennan: Well, not clearly would be at the top of my list.

Tyler: I meant what I said before.
Emma: And since when do words mean anything between people like us? Now I feel what’s behind them. Tyler, what were you trying to protect me from?
Tyler: From me, from Skye, from all of this.
Emma: But it’s too late. You know, I’m a part of it. I’m a part of you.

Brennan: I know you’re in love with the guy, and that has a funny way of turning people into believers.
Emma: Brennan, we’re empaths. There is no lying between us. His thoughts are my thoughts. I know him.
Brennan: Then where is he now?
Emma: He’s-he’s ending things with Skye, and then he’s meeting me here.
Brennan: Oh yeah? What time did he say he was gonna be here?
Emma: He’s just running late.
Brennan: Oh, yeah. Or you just don’t know him as well as you think you do.

Adam: Welcome back.
Emma: I never really left.

Emma: Since I’m the only one who knows he’s innocent, maybe I should just find him by myself.
Shalilmar: Hey. You know I can’t let you do that.
Emma: Look, Shal, I’m sorry. But there’s nothing else I can do.
Shalimar: What? *Emma blasts her*
Emma: Sorry.

Shalimar: You okay?
Emma: Yeah. I just felt like hiding out for a little while.
Brennan: You know, in situations like this, I find it’s better to be with other people. You know, take your mind off things for a little while.
Shalimar: Sorry there couldn’t have been another way.
Emma: Yeah, Tyler knew what he was doing. He was trying to save me. This was the only way.
Brennan: Well, for what it’s worth, you were right. I mean, he did save all of us.
Jesse: Hey Emma, I am sorry. It must have been very hard for him to go through life always knowing what was going to happen.
Brennan: Yeah, fate’s a real bitch.
Emma: Fate is what brought Tyler and I together. You know, he realized that some things were meant to be. I guess us being together was a part of that.

Trivia & Nitpicks: Shalimar says Emma’s capable of giving “love hits.”
In case you're keeping score, Emma’s the first Mutant X team member to say, “I love you.” The only other member who will say it is Brennan to Jesse in "No Exit," and that's because he was prompted and thought they were both dying.

Shal’s wearing her favorite shirt again, only this time it’s completely black. After the laundry mishap in "Crossroads of the Soul," she must have decided to just cut her losses and dye the thing.

From Jesse’s behavior in this episode, it would seem that Lexa’s “No Exit” quip, “You guys don’t get out much, do you?” isn’t far off. This time it’s Jesse freely passing out his phone number to unknown women at the harbor. At this point, the question is not how do so many people know Sanctuary’s number, but why doesn’t everyone know Sanctuary’s number?

And if that isn’t bad enough, Emma mind-blasted the man making climbing gear, but forgot to make him forget about their encounter. Then Shalimar comes around and shows off her powers too. Adam's right. They might as well wear Mutant X tee-shirts.

Despite the fact that their minds are supposedly connected, Tyler manages to sneak up on Emma twice, first on the beach and then at the party. One can't help but notice that compared to his beach buddies, Tyler is pretty pale.

It must be an omen. Emma tells Tyler “This is going to sound like a cheesy line, but...” This is almost exactly what she said to Caleb Mathias in “Lazarus Syndrome.” That didn’t end well. Then Tyler says she’s coming on to him, and she says “I haven’t decided yet.” This is what Kyle Strong said to her in “Sign from Above.” That didn’t end well either. For the sake of her future love life, Emma really needs to come up with some new material.

Though Tyler’s abilities seem somewhat similar to the precog John Bishop’s in “The Prophecy” (without the whole black eyes thing), Emma tells the team he’s a telempath with the ability to see future possibilities.

Why doesn’t Emma just use a psionic blast on Skye when he’s holding them at gunpoint? That's a possible future that Tyler doesn't even consider.
