Hurray For The 27th Doras!

Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts announced the nominations for the 27th Dora Mavor Awards, an annual event that acknowledges Toronto's best theatre. The nominations were announced at a press conference on June 6.

The 27th Annual Dora Mavor Awards ceremony will be held at the Winter Garden Theatre on June 26.

Precious Stuff: Lord of the Rings Wins Seven Dora Awards in Toronto

The Lord of the Rings, the music-infused spectacle, earned seven Dora Mavor Moore Awards June 26 at the annual ceremony honoring excellence in Toronto theatre, opera and dance. The new J.R.R. Tolkien-inspired show, which was recently announced to have a London production, was nominated for 15 Doras in the General Theatre division of the 17th annual awards. The Doras are split into several divisions to accommodate different sized productions and troupe's with distinct goals - General Theatre Division, Independent Theatre Division, Opera Division, Dance Division and Theatre for Young Audiences Division. Recipients were announced at the Winter Garden Theatre.
