hello everyone! i sit here writing this after many, many hours of fussing over my hair, trying to turn me into a blonde, and so far it has been a success. the reason i did this is not because i am abandoning the world of brunettes, ( which i am extemely fond of, and may return to it as soon as i can!) but fulfilling my duties as an actress! i am leaving for montreal soon to film a Lifetime movie called "I DO BUT I DONT" starring denise richards and yours truly. /images/graemlins/wink.gif it'll be great to be part of the romantic comedy world again! unfortunately, i cannot attend the monte carlo festival anymore as i will be working. so, i may be absent for the month, but will let u know how it all went! i am thrilled to be back in my hometown!

Anyone who's seen The Wedding Planner may experience the odd moment of déjà vu while watching this TV movie, as Denise Richards finds herself falling for fireman Dean Cain as she tries to manage the nuptials of a temperamental heiress. That this adaptation of Cara Lockwood's formulaic tale of misunderstandings and reconciliations has an unexpected charm is down to the cordial chemistry between the former Bond Girl and the one-time Man of Steel. A further plus point is the able support of Karen Cliche as the spoilt bride-to-be, David Lipper as Richards's oily soon-to-be ex-husband and Jessica Walter as her harridan boss.
Plot Summary
Romantic comedy starring Denise Richards and Dean Cain. Though only recently separated from her adulterous husband, insecure wedding planner Lauren Crandell finds herself falling for easy-going fireman Nick Corina. Unfortunately, Lauren is organising the wedding of Nick and his fiancée, a temperamental heiress called Darla.

Sonar Entertainment 2004: Karen Cliche, David Lipper (Vic Morelli in "Body and Soul") & Yannick Bisson (Richard Saunders in "Fool for Love") Synopsis
A bride with an embarrassing secret, a groom without a clue, a mother with a dream, and a wedding planner looking for her own best man… Chicago wedding consultant Lauren Crandell (Denise Richards, Wild Things) knows the drill: convince the bridesmaids that they don’t look foolish, calm the in-laws, keep the flowers fresh, stay on budget, assure the bride that she’s beautiful, and let her boss, Gennifer Douglas (Emmy winner Jessica Walter, Arrested Development), take credit for everything. In other words, work miracles. But when Lauren’s enlisted to plan the wedding for rich, spoiled, and certifiably psycho bride Darla Tedanski (Karen Cliché, Mutant X), her talents-and patience-are really put to the test. It’s worth it. The high-profile nuptials for the daughter of Chicago’s reigning Sausage King could land her the cover of Bride’s Day magazine, as well as the promotion she deserves. Now if Lauren could just troubleshoot her own life… First: dump her cheating husband Brad (David Lipper, See Jane Date). Second: keep her strictly professional mind off a distraction like Nick Corina (Dean Cain, Out of Time), the chiseled fireman who fanned the flames of a mishap at the Tedanski rehearsals. It isn’t surprising that Nick proves irresistible, or that Lauren gives in. What is surprising is Nick’s highly questionable relationship with “Bridezilla.” To make matters even more suspect, Darla has a secret that could turn everyone’s perfect day into the perfect nightmare.
Starring
Denise Richards as Lauren Crandell
Dean Cain as Nick Corina
Karen Cliche as Daria Tedanski
Jessica Walter as Gennifer 'G' Douglas
Yannick Bisson as Jay Corina

Variety 9/10/04: Karen Cliche Review: ‘I Do (But I Don’t)’
September 10, 2004 | 12:07PM PT
Of course, after boy meets girl, boy has to lose girl. Secondary characters are written as stereotypes and pretty much serve as narrative filler to move the story from one mini crisis to another: The Bridezilla, the overbearing mother, the slimy ex-husband and the philandering groomsman all throw a wrench in the works and prevent our heroes from hooking up.

Zap 2 It 9/11/04: Karen Cliche Actor says 'I Do (But I Don't)' on Lifetime
Sat September 11, 2004 By Jay Bobbin Zap2it.com
It may take a few years, but former series stars can get very busy on television again. A prime example: Dean Cain, who was the home screen's Superman for four seasons.
....
He portrays a firefighter who may be marked for matrimony in "I Do (But I Don't)," a Lifetime romantic-comedy movie debuting at 8 p.m. Monday. The fireman meets a wedding planner (Denise Richards) who comes to believe he is engaged to her latest client (Karen Cliche), so she tries to deny the sparks she has with him. (Yes, this sounds like a certain Jennifer Lopez movie, but it's been a few years.)

``I Do (But I Don't)''
(Lifetime; 9 p.m. Monday)
Think: A wedding planner (Denise Richards) does her utmost to avoid love, but the screenwriters foist upon her a happily-ever-after anyway (with Dean Cain).
Don't think: One of the film's co-stars is named Karen Cliche. Honest. Boy, you're not asking for trouble affixing that name to TV movies, are you? Really, Karen - no matter how much you insist it's pronounced ``Kleesh,'' just change it. You'll be amazed at how much more work you'll get.
In a nutshell: Richards can't quite pull off fizzy comedy; Ms. Cliche's name is far too appropriate here.

New York Daily News 9/13/04: Karen Cliche UNVEILING A MORE ROMANTIC RICHARDS 'I Do (But I Don't)' marks a change
BY Marisa Guthrie / NEW YORK DAILY NEWS / Monday, September 13, 2004, 12:00 AM
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER Denise Richards has settled down considerably since her breakthrough role in the kinky thriller "Wild Things." On screen and off. For one thing, she's got a 6-month-old daughter with husband Charlie Sheen, the star of CBS' hit sitcom "Two and a Half Men." And now she's starring in the Lifetime movie "I Do (But I Don't)," premiering tonight at 9, in which she plays a responsible, if slightly obsessive-compulsive, adult with a real job - as a wedding planner. She's the calm in the storm, juggling a boss from hell (Jessica Walter), an overbearing mother (Mimi Kuzyk), a soon-to-be-ex-husband (David Lipper) and an uptight, psycho bride (Karen Cliche).

Based on the novel by Cara Lockwood, I Do (But I Don't) tells of the trials and tribulations of a junior wedding consultant in trying to balance a career and her own personal love life, both of which seem to be vying for her constant attention. After struggling but receiving almost no credit for her role as a miracle worker, keeping the most difficult weddings from falling apart, Lauren Crandell (Denise Richards, Undercover Brother) finally has her chance to move up in her career, if only she can keep the wedding of bitchy Chicago Pork Princess, Darla Tedenski (Karen Cliche, Riders), on track. Meanwhile, she also happens to meet a hunky fireman named Nick Corona (Dean Cain, Out of Time), who she keeps running into, and the two form a flirtatious relationship that is quite welcome, given her recent separation from her philandering husband, Brad (David Lipper, Federal Protection). Lauren takes great care to keep her professional and personal lives separate, but they both come crashing together when she discovers that the groom-to-be in her upcoming wedding may be none other than her adorable Nick himself.

DVD Verdict 7/27/05: Karen Cliche I Do (But I Don't) Warner Bros. // 2004 // 88 Minutes // Not Rated
Reviewed by Appellate Judge Amanda DeWees (Retired) // July 27th, 2005
Like the latter movie, I Do (But I Don't) takes as its heroine a wedding planner who falls in love with the groom in a wedding she's arranging. At least, that's what we (and she) think has happened, but it turns out that this is just the first of many misunderstandings that keep the heroine and hero apart until the end of the running time. Denise Richards (The World Is Not Enough) stars as Lauren Crandall, the insecure, compulsively organized wedding planner who has trust issues with men thanks to her adulterous husband, whom she is in the process of divorcing. Dean Cain (Lois and Clark) is amiable fireman Nick Corina, who is in many ways her opposite-free-spirited, with a fondness for surprises. Along the rocky road to happy-ever-after Lauren must learn to stand up for herself-to her mother, her harpy of a boss (Jessica Walter), and her oily soon-to-be ex-husband-and of course make sure that the massive wedding goes off smoothly despite the lunatic tendencies of high-powered bride Darla (Karen Cliche).

I Do (But I Don't) (**1/2) In this 2004 Lifetime television movie, Denise Richards plays Lauren, a wedding consultant hired by Darla (Karen Cliche), an unhinged bridezilla marrying Nick (Dean Cain), a man Lauren feels a great attraction toward herself. And she thinks he reciprocates. Innocuous, predictable comedy. Not rated, 88 minutes.
