The Nugget Online 10/22/82: Tom McCamus Saturday, Oct. 16 was opening night for the play Dreaming and Duelling at the Phoenix Theatre (Grant MacEwan, J .P. Campus). The play was written by John & Joa Lazarus, & directed by Bob Baker. The first production of Dreaming and Duelling was put on at the New Play Centre 8: Vancouver Playhouse (Bob Baker-Director) Dreaming and Duelling is set in the present time. It is about a person (Joel) who has created an “old England-Don Juan” image for himself. The image includes deceit, perversion, comradery, & honor. Joel wishes to have the same lifestyle as his image, but in trying to achieve it he destroys himself, and almost ruins the lives of 2 peopie he is associated with. The cast consisted of: Tom McCamus (Joel) He was invigorating, unpredictable, & valiant. Stephen Ouimette (Eric) He was humorous & invigorating. Brenda Robins (Louise) This is her 2nd time in the part of Louise. She knew her role well. Rand MacPherson (Skelly) He played his part as if it was his actual character. Janet Daverne (Mrs Thorpe) Acting as an irate, but compassionate teacher seemed to come easy to her.
