Victor Webster on "Must Love Dogs," Internet Dating, and the Rick Hansen Movie

Victor Webster on His Role in "Must Love Dogs":
"I actually come to the door with a bunch of flowers and some balloons and you think that I’m one of the men in [Diane Lane's character's] life, but I turn out to be her best friend’s boyfriend and we’re there to cheer her up. The role was really fun. I think the talent pool was really attractive. The writer/director was extremely attractive. So to work with those type of people brings your game up a little."

On Working with Writer/Director Gary David Goldberg:
"He was very specific [with the script] and the thing about it was that there wasn’t really anything I needed to do. It was just right. When we were on the set, he would change scenes here and there to make things better. He’s a genius. He really, really knows what’s going on."

Victor Webster's Stance on Internet Dating:
"I think it works for some people. It doesn’t work for me so much," said Webster.

Does that mean he's actually given it a try?
Webster laughed, "No, no, no, no. I’m a little scared to try it. I’d be very afraid, to be honest with you. I’m really, really, really picky and it’s mostly about their personality. You can’t tell someone’s personality when you’re talking to them over the Internet or by punching in keys. You want to know how they respond, if they have a sense of humor. You get a sense of somebody by spending time with them. Online, you can believe that they’re anybody. They may be like a 500 lb Samoan with a bunch of tattoos sitting on the other side saying he’s an FHM cover model just to try and mess with you. Plus, I don’t get on the computer that often - once a week maybe."

On What Someone 'Must Love' to be in a Relationship With Him:
"My dogs. They have to laugh if my jokes. Even if I have to pay them, they have to laugh at my jokes. No. I think they just have to love me for who I am. If you want to be in a relationship with someone, you have to be able to be yourself. I don’t want to be acting. I want to be who I am."

In the whitest neighborhood in America, a fortysomething divorcee and preschool teacher, Sarah (Diane Lane), is the unofficial star of an ongoing edition of The Dating Game hosted by her entire immediate family. After suffering a string of fools she meets through online dating services that boast layouts, upload times, and connection speeds far more advanced than anything you can currently experience on, say, the site of the movie's most prominent sponsor, Perfectmatch.com, Sarah must choose between Guy #1 ("He's an average looking boat builder who may come on strong but loves pooches, cuddling, and laying on the charm") and Guy #2 ("He's a dad who likes women more than he likes dogs, but he has a crookedly handsome smile and an irresistible bubble butt"). Hollywood has made this movie before, but not having seen a single one besides Doctor Zhivago, the David Lean classic that plays on perpetual loop in the town's televisions and movie theaters, Sarah must discover all by her lonesome to distinguish between The Nice Guy Who Acts Mean (John Cusack) and the Mean Guy Who Acts Nice (Dermot Mulroney). When she picks the wrong one, it's a night of rape-crying in the shower, but since a movie like this wouldn't exist without second chances, it's only a matter of time before she picks the man behind the right door.
