Legacy (1998)

David Hasselhoff trades the beach for the battlefield in this drama, in which he plays Jack Scott, a photojournalist specializing in combat photography. Scott encounters a young woman whose has never met her father -- an American soldier who was stationed in the Philippines -- and is desperate to find him; her search has led her back to the land of her birth, and Scott offers to help her. However, they soon discover that their investigation had put them on a trail fraught with danger and intrigue. Legacy also stars Rod Steiger, Corin Nemec, and Vicky Pratt.

With a budget of over $2 million dollars, a story by the author of “Three Days of the Condor” and a cast that includes David Hasselhoff, Rod Steiger, Corin Nemec and Victoria Pratt, I thought I would have heard of this little film before, but I hadn’t.
....
Hell no, and hell is exactly what Jack goes through as an unseen villain, Sadler (Rod Steiger, “The Hollywood Sign”), sends his henchmen, Black (Corin Nemec (“Stargate SG1”) and Edge (Douglas O’Keeffe), out to arrange an “accident”. Apparently, Lana’s father liberated quite a huge sum of money off of Sadler and the gangster wants it back. Full of numerous chases, a few twists and turns along with some unusual insight into Filipino culture, director T.J. Scott uses all of his television skills to raise “Legacy” a few levels above the normal b-movie execution.

In 1998, she was on a plane to the Philippines to visit some friends on the set of their film, Legacy. During her flight, she was asked to replace an actress who had just dropped out, and was whisked away to wardrobe upon debarking. Suddenly, she was face to face with lead actor David Hasselhoff.

UGO: With your first feature Legacy, what was it like working with David Hasselhoff?
VICTORIA PRATT: You know what, he's really cool. You didn't know what to expect because he's such a TV icon, everybody in the world knows him. Everybody in the Philippines went crazy over him, he was like a million feet taller than anyone in that country and they all looked up at him going, "Knight Rider, Knight Rider," and since I was blonde, everyone ran after me going, "Baywatch, Baywatch" and I wasn't even on the show.
