Zap 2 It 1/22/02 'Mutant X,' 'City Guys' Picked Up
Tuesday, January 22, 2002 10:00 PM PT
The syndicated series "Mutant X" and "City Guys" will return next season. "Mutant X," produced by Tribune Entertainment, has enjoyed strong ratings in its debut season, frequently finishing among the top 25 syndicated programs from week to week. It was picked up by the stations in the Tribune Co.'s broadcast group -- which includes outlets in most of the nation's largest markets -- and other in Detroit, Phoenix, Minneapolis and St. Louis, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
(The Tribune Co. also owns Zap2it.)
The show has aired despite legal action by 20th Century Fox, which claims that "Mutant X" is a ripoff of "X-Men," the Marvel comic series to which Fox owns the film rights. A judge ruled against the studio last summer.
