Life without taste
Tuesday September 10 ,1991 Volume 18 Number 1 by Sarah Marcinkiewicz

Theatre Plus Toronto's new play, "Life Without Instruction," which runs at the St. Lawrence Centre until September 21st, coincides with an exhibition of paintings devoted for the first time ever to 17th century painter Artemisia Gentileschi.
....
The essential plot is as follows: at the age of 18, Artemisia Gentileschi, played by Pamela Sinha, was raped by her art instructor. The rape and her subsequent sufferings in court caused her to take a unique form of revenge on her rapist through her graphic and violent biblical paintings.
....
Tom McCamus, who plays Agostino Tassi, her servile art instructor, seems quite at home as the villain. This man who seemingly murders two people during the course of the play, must be warped as he falls in love with Artemisia and proceeds to marry his own sister-in-law.
