So of course, I looked up minoxidil on Wikipedia, and get this: topically applied minoxidil, even in small doses, is fatal to catsThat's one hell of a thing! So, uh, ( Read more... )

I'd plan on that, but I learned long ago that I have a *very* lumpy head. If this doesn't work I'm just going to have to hope it's smoothed out with age, and/or stop being such a vain bastard.

Cats are weird. Chocolate kills them. Aspirin kills them. Rogaine kills them.

Wait. Are cats weird, or is it us?

Actually, Rogaine - like a lot of pain killers, and the caffeine in chocolate - affects blood pressure. I guess cats are really sensitive to that..?

The creepy thing is, nobody knows how Rogaine affects hair growth. Wikipedia devotes all of one sentence to this fact. Supposedly, it was created as a drug to control blood pressure.

Supposedly.

I'm pretty sure it's from outer space.

Ah. I have it now. Cats require a very narrow range of blood pressure for optimal springiness. Too high and they become inflexible, too low and they become languid. And everyone knows that without springiness a cat will die of heartbreak and shame.

Does it have any Interesting Side Effects?
