Teenagers my age suck

Most of them do. They have such sheer ignorance when it comes to certain brands of music - screamo, metal, power meta namely and even punk. Ex: underoath, unearth, dragonforce, anti-flag respectively - just some quick examples i could think up off the top of my head. Some others include like number 12 looks like you, august burns red, rhapsody. ( Read more... )

Dillenger making millions, hahaha, that's hilarious, because they're totally mainstream and everything. That's odd about 43% burnt, but I'm sure alot of there other stuff is in oddball time signatures, sometimes they change like every measure.

"thats not even singing"
True, it's screaming.

"sounds emotional"
Obviously, the guy's screaming. You should hope that's emotional.

"not even real music."This is probably also true because I doubt there was much in the way of harmony or melody involved ( ... )

I understand where your coming from on every angle but when they say "sounds emotional" they're talking about stuff like dashboard or at the drive in where they whine about girls.

I swore you like DEP? what happened? anything in particular you dont like? what songs do you like?

Well, if you look at some of the lyrics for 43% Burnt-i pushed you too far
self absorb that pity
i want to knock you off your horse
i just feel it
everything's fine
spit on yourself
you're so beautiful
crack and chip off
like the sun won't
shine down
That comes across pretty emo, even if you don't think so. Hell, the song itself seems to be a guy reflecting on a past relationship while drunk- it starts with "I smell that whore" then goes into statements in the past tense about her, then seemingly returns to self-addressing with the medicine/pain thing at the end. I don't know where you get the idea that this song in particular is anything but "screamo" as the term goes. I can definitely see where your classmate got that impression, and if you asked me I'd say he's in fact right. I'd like to hear what you think that song (lyrical content) represents if not emo ethos.

I couldn't tell you the names of their songs I like as I've never owned a CD/MP3s, only been exposed through other people's (mostly Pete's) listening. It was all pre-Irony ( ... )

Well I personally dont consider it emo because it doesnt have the "emo feel." Dashboard, at the drive in, daphne loves derby all have that feel that while your listening to it, your gonna be sad or whatever (at least do me). Albeit knowing the lyrics and agreeing with you on what they probably mean, it still doesnt seem like something that is often construed as emo because of the music. Its definitley more towards rageish than emo.

Just for the record their newest cd, Miss Machine, is more main stream than anything since they tried to appeal to new fans. They have new cd coming out in september.

I understand your last paragraph but I'm sure after that day of football I didnt have the best thinking going on so I probably just assumed that you did like them
