Experimental Kitchen: Avocado and Egg Sandwich

I'm finally admitting it to myself. I hate cooking. I want to like it - it's healthier, saves you money, gives you more control, and is a great way to socialize. But given the option between a cold can of ravioli and cooking dinner, it's ravioli for me pretty much every time ( Read more... )

Maybe hard boil and slice the eggs? Also, would wilting the spinach help?

Anyway, the recipe does sound good. :)

Thank you! That's also a possibility! I like fried eggs a lot, so that was why I picked frying. Wilting the spinach probably would help a lot, but I am so very terrible at using this stovetop.

I have oil now, so it's easier than trying to use a third a tub of butter like I did here.

I've gotten too accustomed to hitting "like" next to things. :) Anyway, yeah, from your other entry, it sounds like you've a good excuse for having issues with your stove. Find lots of dishes that cook quickly over high heat, I guess, and take care when using olive oil.

I know! I am, too. It's a way to acknowledge you have seen and agree with the comment without writing... that exact sentence.

The oven is fixed now, and I've used it a few times for frozen pizza, because why cook when there's nearly-instant food? I have yet to use it for really anything else.

Put the spinach on the toast first, so it creates a bed. The warmth from the egg will wilt it slightly and make it more pliabe.
Poke the egg yolk to make it cook quicker.

But to the deeper point, you probably dislike cooking mostly because you're disappointed with your results. You're experimental with your foods, which is good and bad. It can lead to fantastic concoctions or turn you off from everything.

So now with this sandwich, you have a starting point and ideas of how to make it better. As you get more comfortable doing the basics, you become more comfortable with doing more.

Well, now, that makes good sense indeed! I added the spinach as an afterthought, so I didn't make any good plans for it. If I do this again, I will definitely try that ( ... )
