Heehee, congrats. Welcome to the full spectrum of S&H fandom. Once you come to the con, you'll be over the top.
Love that you slipped into the HCTB theme song there for a moment...
Oh, yes, PMG uses that ep to showcase Hutch, no doubt about it. And while many adore sweet, gentle soft voiced Hutch, he never really appealed to me. But that avenging angel with the long legs, jeans and a jacket with the huge hulking gun in his hand ready to take on Gunther. That's my Hutch. whoa.
A Hutch for all seasons and tastes. If I wrote everything I liked about SR it would be novel length. BAMF Hutch is definitely present here. I loved the way he read Gunther his Miranda rights. All that suppressed rage in his voice and subdued violence in his body. Whoa, indeed!
Congratulations on losing your virginity :D This is the most beautiful review of SR I've ever read.
"This episode was like a gift of love from Paul to all his fellow actors. With Starsky out of most of the scenes, his friends could be showcased. Lovingly framed in each scene. What a beautiful ending to a wonderful show." nails it purrectly.
I remember sitting with the kleenex at the ready because the UK S&H magazine had spilt the beans about the ep (saying that PMG had filmed 2 endings...DAMMIT I forgot to ask him if that was true, although he did tell me that the honchos wouldn't let him kill Starsky so maybe he did). I remember watching Starsky go down and thinking 'no they can't kill him'. And I remember the strength of that friendship as Hutch fought for Starsky's life by hunting down the killer. And the kleenex came into use with the death scene...and again with the tag. Tears of laughter and joy.
To me it didn't matter if Starsky was dead for only a minute. Even that long was too much to bear. And Hutch was pretty much expecting him to die! I think if I didn't know that Starsky survived, that scene would have killed me. When Hutch slammed open those doors. I jumped and MY heart stopped for a beat. That was the power of love, right there.
It's still too soon. So many fantastic SR stories have been written already from every angle. I'm trying to think outside the box on this one. Too soon. Too soon. I'm still at the dripping tears into my keyboard as I write about it stage.
Thank you for reading and commenting. It really was a momentous occasion for me. And it a perfect experience thanks to Spencer5460 and all my other community friends! Spencer's Hub was a darling, leaving us alone, tuning out the anguished cries and making dinner to keep our strength up.
