This is a very interesting pairing, and a beautiful, sad story. I love the way you conjure the formal etiquette of the Black household. Regulus' and Emmeline's emotions feel very real. You've really captured the way young people believe so strongly in their principals and also feel such passion for those they love, and the conflict which comes from those two things being at odds with each other. Regulus is such a tragic figure and this is a fascinating viewpoint from which to view his story.

I really enjoyed this--seeing another take on Regulus and relationship to his family and how Emmeline might have affected his choices in the end. I also liked seeing Emmeline as a liberal Slytherin and a Pureblood not in good graces with the others.

You've done a really nice job exploring a relationship between two characters we only see a glimpse of in the books. Regulus's attitude towards marrying Emmeline fits with what we know about him trying to please his family and join Voldemort, and the scene with Mrs. Black is illuminating and adds some interesting layers to her character, especially her acknowledgement of Emmeline's ambition as a woman. Regulus's rejection of Emmeline to his mother is heartbreaking and I love the way his body language makes it clear this is not an easy choice for him but one he feels he must make. And the ending, with Regulus's note and Emmeline's induction into the Order of the Phoenix, really highlight the consequences of his choice.

I like the pairing and you did a good job with them, demonstrating why Emmeline is in Slytherin but how she could be in the Order as well. Good read.
