This is beautiful. I love the celestial imagery and you capture their sadness and the comfort they give each other.

Sorry it has taken me so long to thank you--I really appreciated this comment and am glad you liked the story. I had a hard time picturing Remus with anyone other than Sirius at first, but I knew if I could write him with anyone else it would have to be Lily.

I'm sorry I just got around to reading this. It's a lovely piece. On the one hand, the solace that Lily and Remus find in each other here is gratifying and a bit achy at the same time, as I'm imagining the pulling away Remus sees from his friends has to do with them trying to master the animagus transformations? I can imagine Remus even more conflicted after that.

Thanks for the lovely comment--you are right, I was thinking of the time when the others were working on the Animagus transformations, and how alone Remus must have felt during this time not knowing what they were doing. I actually did intend to cover him finding out and to explore how that might affect things with Lily, but I ran out of time and also felt it might be nice to just focus on this one day. But I'm glad you mentioned Remus's conflicting feelings because I really wanted that to be a focus of the piece.

Coming back for a reread :D I really like this. It's such a descriptive piece and has a lovely rhythm to it. I like that we get so much of Remus' thoughts and his conflicts.
