My little Ali died just a short while ago. I woke up at 8.26 and went immediately to check on him but he was gone. Rigor has not yet set in so it must have been just before I woke up. He was outside his bedroom, so it might have been his moving that woke me.
He was a fighter right to the end - I didn't think he was going to last through Sunday

They don't get long do they, but its still always a miserable time when they go.

I'm so sorry... I've had 2 rats in my lifetime, and they're delightful companions, but their time with us is far too short. My last one, Azie, died in my hands in the waiting room of the vet's office-- she, too, fought long and hard, and I decided it was time to let her go... but in the end, she went on her own terms. You have my most sincere sympathies.

They take up a much larger space in our heart than seems reasonable considering their size, don't they?
I'm glad that Azie went in her own time - it's not much, it's some conolation.
