5th Partridge [Action/Voice][Let's Give Away Shit]

[The bar door suddenly swings open. As the lightning crashes behind him, illuminating a crisp white outline around his figure, Ian walks silently in, dripping with rain water, a hoodie drawn over his unruly green hair. He glances to the left-to the right-before sitting down with a shadow crossing his features. After a beat, he looks up to the ( Read more... )

[Not a New Feather, but that kind of medicine... Well. This is both an utterly fascinating and completely unbelievable claim.]

Reconstructing severed limbs? Well, if you have medicine like that, you ought to be running clinical trials on its efficacy and then mass-producing it. Such a medicine would be quite an asset.

I would be fascinated to see a trial of this medicine in use. [Though Robert would be... less than enthusiastic about cutting off a limb to test it.]

From where do you source this medicine?

[That's a big relief to hear. Maybe it's true-Luceti's safe, for his kind. He wouldn't have to worry about people like those within The Capital. Not the one's who'd hurt him so much.

He believes that, both here and at home: that bad people are few and far between.]

... That's good. I'm really glad.

[Robert would be glad that he had helped to make Ian feel a bit better about his species.]

I know it may seem somewhat... empty for me to say to not be so afraid here, but I hope that it means something when I say this place has been kinder to non-human sapients than some worlds are.

It likely does not matter as much here, because we are all united under the commonality of us all being prisoners of the Malnosso... and all the universes are so different from each other that it is hardly fair for us to prioitize one species over another.

[Robert sighs a little.] Of course, there is always the chance of bigots here... I have seen some myself, unfortunately. But certainly most people here would try to protect you if at all possible. [Robert would, if "protect" didn't involve fighting of any kind.]

... I know. I knew there are good people here-just like at home, too. I've never given up on people, not even once... [And that was really hard, not to do.]

[It's strange for Robert to be in a world of mostly pre-Terrans who are still fairly unbarbaric, all things considering. He's... not sure what to think about it, really. So far he's been more or less justifying it as a variation brought on by multiversal properties...

That, and it's inherently difficult for him to trust other people, what with his social anxiety. Still, Ian's words really do ring true when he thinks about it, and that fact is probably one of the oddest ones he's had to come to grips with here.]

You have remarkable fortitude. Many in your position would not maintain such optimism, but it is commendable that you do.

Forgive me, I ought to give you a proper introduction instead of being so unprofessional. My name is Professor Robert Alexander Hastings. [He allows a small but genuine smile - it's getting easier to give those.]

Ah... and I'm Ian, if you didn't catch it earlier. Ian Kolansky. It's nice to meet you, Robert.

It is nice to meet you too, Ian. I look forward to being able to meet you in person some time, especially because you seem so kind. [Not like Robert is the best judge of character, but he's pretty much lucked out so far.]

... Likewise.

[He smiles a little. Yeah... this was all gonna be okay.]
