It's hard to see a way in which this could be seen as a good idea - they're alienating the fans, besides a well-known and well-liked director while bringing back a franchise that ran itself flat years ago and relying on a teen bubble to haul it through.
I wonder if there's any of the original cast that they could convince to come on board even if they wanted them!
