My mother-in-law gave me an issue of "First" that she was done reading, and what was the first thing I opened it up to? An article on HFCS. It said, and I quote,"The annual consumption of high fructose corn syrup has jumped from a 1/2 pound per person in 1970 to 62.4 pounds per person today, according to the USDA." WHAT?!?!? 62.4 freaking pounds?

Pages 29-30 list all the foods and
products that contain HFCS. Some real
shockers even for me: lunch meats, breads, cough syrups (I checked, it's true). StopHFCS.com lists foods that
are HFCS-free. They welcome additions
and suggestions. Also, European import
stores are a good bet. Europe prohibits
GMO foods which safely eliminates HFCS.
