RIP Independence Air

This evening will be the last flights flown by Independence Airlines forever.

They were one of the very few express flights to Connecticut; where my family lives.

ARGH CRAP.

I don't understand how all of the airlines have declared broke. They are still charging 600 bucks for trans-atlantic flights, and 200 bucks for across state lines. United is ( Read more... )

oh, and to make myself comment-worthy,
my brother's friend pilotted for them.

and

there was a little bit for them on fox 5, that only renewed my hatred of fox 5... melodramatic screwheads.

How are they succeeding?

Well they reduce their costs by having little or no admin staff at airports - and no free in-flight meals (meaning they can charge good prices for rubbish foods)

Advertising promos and the hit UK semi-reality TV show “Airline” - feat guest appearances of their main man Stelios

"There are occasional flights in which you only have to pay the tax on the ticket - now that’s good Business Management"

I don't know where in CT your family lives, but is the Chinatown bus to NY/another cheapass bus farther north an option?

It may not be "express" but it's cheap as hell. :O

(I'm a huge fan of the Chinatown buses, can you tell? They should be paying me for this!)
