so last night i was at the brooklyn brewery, with smart people i actually like, and one of them said 'and it really irritates me when people accuse me of being a liberal. i am not a liberal, i'm an anarchist.' which caused me to be like *blink* *blink* oh fuck, i feel your pain, me too

I don't like how people assume I'm un-American because I am liberal.

i hear ya. i just get doubly annoyed - initially because you're right, that wouldn't make me un-american and shouldn't be flung at me (or you) as an insult, and then on top of that, because it isn't even fucking accurate. people just throw it out there to shut down conversation.

oh, and also, it annoys me that people think you have to be either conservative or liberal - there are a myriad of other political positions out there.
