my wife just did her portfolio. She spent a ton of time on it too and passed. But the evaluation was on the level of like the checkmark that Mr. Johnson used to give homework assignments that basically meant, "You appear to have done this."

Pretty lousy considering all the work that goes in to it.

Then your wife is an awesome person who is to be commended. I gave up a spring break trip to Florida to finish it.

The upsetting thing is when Governor Daniels says, "We've improved education without raising taxes," this is what he means. Which when interpreted really means we've given people a lot of extra work that gets a cursory glance, but if they mess it up they're red-flagged forever.

So some person I've never met is making the decision of whether or not I'm a good teacher. Not my department head, principle, superintedent, or any other myriad of people who've actually seen the job I've done.

As you can see I have strong feelings about this. *groan*
